I was just reading in RC Heli Magazine just now and there is an article on Alan Szabo. He says he uses a prototype servo that takes a 2 cell lipo without a regulator giving him 200oz torque and .05 speed. He operates between a full charge of 8.4v down to 7.0v. Has anyone heard who is producing this servo and when it will be available?
They are spektrum servos, they have a matching Rx to go with it .... or they will when they go into full production.

So will the servo's work with other radio systems and 8.4v?

I understand that the Spektrum receivers are already 8.4V compatible (per Paul Beard) so we just have to wait for the servos.

There an old airplane trick that uses separate power for servos operating mechanical retractable landing gear..... you could run the radio with a BEC/Regulator and run the servos directly from the LiPo. Little bit of wiring, but it would work.
The Rx can handle a higher operating voltage than the servos can, not sure what the point of your wiring job would do.

The point would be to use the 8.4v servos with other radio systems!
