I need to start thinking about my servo choices for my sport. I'll end up getting a DX7 radio so should I stick with junior servos or is mixing and matching brands no big deal?
Should I go with beginner level servos like suggested on the flying aid website and upgrade to faster later?
Will a governor make it easier for a beginner?
all 3 ccpm servos must be the same. Ive heard a lot of bad things about the 821s that come with the DX7 on them failing. I guess you could try 3151s if you wanted. But i would go with something a little better. 9252s are the best bang for the buck when it comes to pretty nice servos.
any comments on the 3151s to learn how to hover and some forward flight?

Yea, I wasnt planning on using that servos that come with the radio. I think I read they were not recommended for 50 size helis.

i have seen several 821 fail myself just by simply pulling the servo horn off the spline. the plastic appears to be too brittle.
guys at the club have great success with the futaba 3152 more than capable of 3d just a little on the slow side for full on 3d. If you have money to burn or need the extra performance the 9252 or 9255 are great too.

I might take you up on that later Rodney.
As far as servo horns go, do you usually buy those alone or does the servo usually come with the ones you'll use?

The Compass uses a standard sized horn so most servos will come with them. Stay away fromthe metal ones as you more than likely have to use sub trim with them.

Well I may have went over board tonight. I bought 3 8717's and the 770 gyro with the 8900 tail servo. I bought a futaba 3152 for the throttle.
Now I need to figure what receiver battery and charger combo to get.

waste of money, towerpro 5010 servos with a 401 gyro would be more then you needed unless your doing hard core 3d.

Let us know how the 8717's work out.
I am jealouse that you have these and not me!
I been running 8317's in .50 sized machines and they have been excellent, so far. The 8717's should be even better.
Good luck with your new ship.
