The new Carbon is now test flown, full metall head and carbon frames makes this heli a very solid flier.
Love the frame, smart design and very rigid. Larger packs are now easy to mount, even the A123 fits like a glove. But, the frame will make the heli more expensive, and not as fun to cra$h. But this is common to all CFK frames.

...even the A123 fits like a glove
What configuration (6/7/8s, shotgun/split slab/humpback) ?
What is the price difference between the plastic Pro kit and the Carbon kit (both excluding motor and ESC) ?

would a TP 6S 5000mah pack be an option?

Hi
Nice paintjob, looks like mine
I like it bright orange...or better..i need bright colors..time for a pair of glasses.
I had to promise myself not to get the new frame right away...i wait till the stock one breakes...now there's an excuse to take more risks in learning new moves :YeaBaby:

Yes right, I can not see why it is so much easier to fit larger lipos with the CF frame.

Here is a picture of my Carbon with a 7S A123, fits good under the canopy
This pack is huge... 205x53x51mm..
Actually, i did not see how it should fit at first either.. But it does swallow alot bigger packs than the plastic one! The reason is that the "slope" starts closer to the motor...

And here is a "stolen" picture from another guy with the same A123 7S pack and the old plastic version..
i don´t have to **** up my canopy like this anylonger :)

Weight difference between carbon and plastic frames?

I did not have the time to weight it, since the build up was in a hurry.. we are going to denmark to compete with this machines this weekend... Just as prolle sais, because of the new "slope" design in the frame, larger packs will fit much better. Acctualy, with the A123 pack in the picture, the Hurricane balance out quite ok.

Biggest question... does it stiffen the frames up enough to stop a Z30 shredding the main gear?
Even with CNC gears, extra bearing block and very, very careful gear meshing, my ReadyHeli CNC gear lasted 3 flights!
On inspection of the motor, it is clear to see it is warping the plastic frame under load - the pushrod arms have rubbed the anodising off the motor where it has twisted and touched them.
Got so sick of it, I've bought a Logo 500... from budget to posh in one very expensive move :)
Would love to get the Hurricane in the air again because it flew so well - it just seemed to be more maintenance than flight time... MTBF of about one LiPo!!!

Skaross, I have not tried the Readyheli gears, I am using the stock Gaui OK gears since they where introduced. I have never changed a gear since then, and have about 30-40 flights with the plastic frame and Z30 motor. My friend "prolle" have the same amount of flights, using the same setup.
So, try these new (and cheap) gears, and I´ll bet your problems will disapear. The Hurricane Carbon and all new sets are comming with the OK gears as standard. We are flying pretty hard, and abusive with our helis, and if they can handle our torment, they are really ok.
I guess you´ve heard that LOGO 500 gears are failing too? And this it NOT a cheap fix.

It´s very stiff, no doubt! Get one and sell the logo before you crash it :) Yes i´ve heard about the logo gears, Melting of the heat?
So you´re an ITIL freak at office just like me :)

Prolle, was that "dead stiff" or what? ;-)

Yep, well aware of the Logo issue... but most of that is down to poor mesh creating too much heat. Can live with my mistakes killing gears, can't live with a warping frame doing it :)
I loved my Hurricane and am a real fan of the heli - very agile, incredibly quiet and a pretty looking animal. I just want to get some flying in, not spend my time repairing it :(
She will fly again, but probably tamed down to a Z20 and 5S config for some sports flying. Only the silly Z30/6S combo seemed to kill it with regularity!
