Hi all - building a Logo 500 3D at the moment and suffering a bit of a problem with the head.

Page 11 of the manual gives a blow up of the mixer arm build (top left corner) and clearly shows the orientation of the arm different between the 500DX and 500 3D. On the 3D the longer bearing holder is show as the part that mates to the blade grip - the opposite to the DX.

I've built mine this way, but the ball on the arm is now not in line with the flybar such that as you mate the special ball link it rubs and binds on the arm. This is making the head very tight as it rotates.

Looking at build manual for the Logo 10 suggests it goes the other way around, and eyeballing the head suggests this will fix the problem. Before I tear down the arms for a rebuild, can anyone confirm if this binding is intended - surely it has to be a build manual error?

Many thanks
Kev

Your assumption is correct. The shorter side of the mixing arm should mate with the blade grip, as you saw in the Logo 10 manual. The manual is incorrectly depicting the 500 3D, and I will send Mikado a note for the next revision of the Manual (adding to my list).

The only time you need to use the longer side against the grip is when you are using the 14mm blade grips, as in the Logo 14 or Logo 600.

Thanks for the swift reply Loopzilla - off to go rebuild. Not a huge job, just a little annoying to follow such a detailed manual very carefully only to find its wrong :(

Diagram 2 just to the right of that illustration is correct

As are all the others in the manual when you look :) But when a diagram gives you a very special case for your own heli, you tend to believe them.

I believe a good few people will get caught out by this - I've seen photos of at least one Logo 500 that had been flown, but was clearly binding... can't recall if it was on this forum, or RCGroups!

Skaross, I do agree with you 100%. Sent Ralph an email about this awhile back seeing it myself. It should be revised in the manuals to come. For now thank goodness for the freak to get us on the right road! :D
