Hello, here's my 600N Sport... What do you guys think? (Oh yes, it's a custom power switch installation ;) )

The 600N look good. You did a great job on building.

Please post picture of the first flight!!!
By the way, Welcome to the nut house!!!!!

You're going to need to re-route that elevator servo wire.
Hi guys, I thought to go test it tomorrow.
I managed to get into forward flight on my Raptor before I sold it, but it's been a long time since I flew so there will be some hovering session to get to know the 600N.
Davin5: I saw my mistake and fixed it. Routed the servo cable under the servos and cable tied it in place...Thanks for the heads up!

Good job !! If you put the gyro on the tail boom case you could mount the power switch on the cyclic servos and clean up the wires down the front R skid. You can reach this through the canopy for off on = alternately you could get the 2-1 reg and put the switch/LED panel up on the cyclics and not have to worry about a glow battery :)
I'd also check those big servo wheels don't chafe too much on the canopy - the new ALign wheels are just the right diameter.
GOOD LUCK with the test flight :)
Thanks, but I'm a beginner and like to keep it simple.
I don't know how this 2-1 regulator works and I don't have any Lipo batteries, charger for it or experience with electric flight.
I've been flying methanol/gas planes for many years and like the nicad-->rx simplicity :)
...And I kinda like the cables and switch harness out on the skid, makes it special :) LOL :)

Fair enough - what makes this hobby really interesting is the endless variations !! A 2-1 reg just plugs into any spare receiver channel to supply power, just like a NiCd pack but has input from a 2S lipo instead of a NiCd - there is a couple of leads output to wire in the glow and a remote switch/LED display pad - pretty simple. The advantages of the lipo is that you can charge it quick - full charge in 1 hr and keep topping up without memory effect developing. A 2S lipo is pretty darn simple to maintain and you can get a basic charger/balancer for ~ $20. I flew a 4 cell NiCd for some time but really like the plumbed in glow starter !
Thanks for the info.
I bet I'll go 2-1 + Lipo as well down the road, but right now I'm satified with this and I have a good fieldbox to power my starter & glow igniter, so I don't really feel the need for onboard glow driver to start the engine.
The RX ni-cad is good for 4 flights, and then I'm also ready to take a break to get the adrenaline and fear out of my system :)
I used the same system in my Raptor and it worked very good and is simple:
12V/12AH gel cell -->starter/glowdriver via power panel.
Some people like the wireless starter with a couple of nimh or lipo packs, but for me the simplicity and longetivity of the 12AH gelcell is better.
Anyhow, The heli is in the back of my car and I'm going to the field after work to test it.
I picked up the DX7 two days ago and have programmed it to the best of my knowledge and hopefully the heli is 100% go.

It's always the little things that'll bite you. Take it slow, take it easy, and take a friend. The 600N is gonna rock your sox! :YeaBaby:

Maiden went very well. I brought a friend who is a good pilot and very experienced in the heli hobby.
He took it up the first time and trimmed it out, something I could have done myself, but hey, if an experienced pilot is at hand, why not let him do it? :)
The 600N is soo smoth and flies really good. I'm a beginner but really like how it handles...The new DX7 radio also seem to be a perfect match for it.
The YS50 and Funtech pipe is quiet and runs very well... (Byron YS fuel 20/20 and OS#8 glowplug.)
This really is a nice heli, I love it!
We're going to fly again tomorrow, and on Saturday and.... well.... you get the picture :)

OMG , i'm jealous!! hehe. I am trying to get the money together to get my first heli as well , and have decided on the same heli'. I'm all went well with your maiden man , i'm sure you'll have a lot of fun.
I'm also a beginner, this 600N is my second heli.
I bought a Raptor 50 Titan in July this summer and learned how to hover it and fly a figure 8. Then I went to a F3C competition and flew it, just for the fun of it. (ended 5 out of 7 in the popular programme :) )
My friend, who also is a beginner crashed his Raptor 30 and wanted to buy my R50, so that's why I ended up with heli #2 in such short time.
I really recommend the Align 600N Sport for you as your first heli, it's easy and fun to build and it flies great. Very stable and smooth, and in the right hands a real 3D monster.
Good luck, and I hope to see you here on Helifreak soon with your own pictures and flight reports!
