The Scorpion 45 amp esc is either getting sent back or put on Ebay.
I went out and flew the scorpion Trex. It did a bunch of wierd stuff, first it initialized and all seemed fine, took off and flew a little then went into idle up and still ok, need to adjust gyro so I set it down and go from 77% to 72% and take off again, only now I'm really down on power so I land and it makes a wierd set of tones, hmmm, ok, maybe the battery wasn't a fully charged battery??? so I switch to another fresh one ( the last one was fresh) and take off again, plenty of power, ok, do a few forward and backward flips, kinda wild but ok, whatever. I land it for some reason, can't remember now and then when I try to go back up it has very little power, faaaaak, so i set it down and hit throttle hold, let it spin down, then throttle hold off and back up and it's got full power again, ok fine, whatever, so I go to do a backflip and it has very little cyclic response and "I" didn't have enough time/space to get it back upright before it CRASHED.
The servos worked fine for the first part of the flight/s. I have not hooked up the bec yet and won't, screw this piece of crap. Ordered a CC 35amp, it should handle it just fine. I know others that use them with other power house motors and have no problems.
I've spoke with lucien about this and he says I'm the only one that's having any problems with this esc, Everyone that has bought them has been happy as can be.
Also: I did set the low throttle at 110% and it didn't have that spooling up problem anymore. So far.

I have the Scorpion HK-2221-8 motor and the Scorpion 45A ESC been flying it for about 3 weeks, it has been perfect....lots of power.

Nick Maxwell also is using the Scorpion motor combo and says it has been perfect for hm also.
Beside the radio glitch I got the other day, mine was full of power and performing really good on the Mars 480.

Crash damage: both outside lower carbon fiber frames broken, all three cyclic servos toast, one billet/metal blade grip (broke when I tried to straighten it), one set of carbon blades, of course a feathering spindle, one main shaft, one KB tail blade, one fiberglass canopy, one flybar. I think the carbon boom is ok but it spins in the tailblock and the fiber rods are broke loose.

Yeah but you need a BEC

it says 6s max with no BEC so do i need one or no?

Yes, you need a BEC for 6s setup. This is what you need:

Yeah it's misleading. What they mean is 6S (You can't use onboard BEC)

esc shut down voltage to cyclic servos, why I don't know. As soon as it started over I knew I was ****ed. Wouldn't rotate normal, just stuck. ugh...
I'm going to use a Castle Creations 35 amp esc, others I've talked to have used it with success.
I guess I'm the lucky one that got a bad esc?

I got the Scorpion 55amp ESC. I had some kind of voltage glitch that caused my reciever lockout. I was also running an extention on the throttle wire, that might of been the cause of the glitch. I'm just gonna run a SportBEC to eliminate any voltage loss, plus run all my stuff on 6volts.

great...
Any problems with Align?

Hi Bob,
Can you be more specific on which CC models and applications failed on you? And how long ago?
FYI, I have 500+ flights on a CC35 on 3s and 50+ flights on a HV85 on 6s w/ no failures.

Yeah I see where I missed it from work and home now. Man that is the worst kind of crash Mitch I absolutely hate to see that. I would have done the same, i.e. whatever and lift off, if it makes you feel any better. I did the same thing basically at the FunFly and got lucky.

I have a CC10 that sent smoke signals for no reason I can imagine. I have a CC35 that is damaged but I think my motor took it out. I had warning signs and ignored them.
Bob I know you don't tell people what to buy but can you tell me what you bought? What is your choice Jazz? I may just pick me up a 45amp Jazz and a Neu motor so I can worry about other things. For now the Align will be going back in. As a matter of fact I may sell my CC35 when I get it back soldered and ready with a SportBEC and replace it with a Jazz.

If you mean this one yeah it can handle up to 10.

i have over 200 flights on my cc85hv and over 100 on my cc110hv. whats the deal with Castle??? both my E helis are using medusa 6/3.5 bec.

Actually Finless said said too many failures for him I am sure Castle Creations is fine. He's not your normal technician he sets up for beyond extreme.
I just want a Jazz so I can run no BEC. A secondary set of circuits is always the worse approach. You always lose some on the knife when you split things up.
The Jazz bec won't do 6v  which really helps performance on the 450's. Still need an external bec. I'm liking the SportBEC!
