But the AMA is only good when you are at a sanctioned field or it is good fly at any park or area r/c isn't banned?
I looked at the price 58 bucks for one year isn't too bad.

Victor,
Forgive me for contradicting you.
"Its good anywhere as long as you follow the saftey rules listed on their web site."
Unless something has changed drastically, AMA only covers you at AMA sanctioned fields (Whittier Narrows, for example).
They are working on a "Park Flyer" program but, I believe, the park must be accepted by the AMA somehow also.
By the way, the last time I went to Whittier Narrows on the weekend, I showed my AMA card and got in for free. It is free during the weekdays, but not o the weekends.

Thanks for the heads up Richard. Guess I was told wrong. I really thought you could use it anywhere as long as you followed the saftey rules AMA requires.
Guess there no use wasting your money then if your not going to fly at an AMA field. Buy a new battery instead. :)

It is true that AMA will cover you ANYWHERE, if you are following their rules. You do not have to fly only at AMA sanctioned fields in order for their protection to apply.
Why do you think all of the trouble setting up a flight line and frequency control was undertaken at Arbor?
Well, partly because of AMA coverage, and also because some people were becoming SCARY unsafe. But the few measures followed at Arbor would satisfy the AMA in the event of an accident.
As for the new Park Flyer program from the AMA, the decision whether to allow Park Flyer members to fly at sanctioned fields has been left to the individual clubs. Our club decided two nights ago to let Park Flyer members fly at our field three times as guests, but that they would not be eligible for membership in our club until they signed up for full AMA membership.

by having an AMA membership you are swowing others that you are a responsible RCer even if you are only flying in public parks, also you help support the growth of our hobby. i purchase hunting , fishing , NRA , AMA( motorcycle) memberships every year, and i havnt fished or hunted in 7 years. membership is COOL.

Thanks for the clarification guys. Guess its time for me to renew my membership, even though this year, I probably won't be flying as much. :)

(ROTFLMAO)
I finally got to fly the Raptor 903D around today (after five flight or so of needle valve tweaking on the pumped motor). It is still running rich (which it will be for a while).
Lots and lots of power! Really flat rolls.
Now I won't be able to take it out again until next week...
