Subject: Heli Fun Fly
Greetings.
I'm Ben Strasser, currently secretary of the Canyon Crosswinds. To hold your event at our field would be somewhat complicated, to say the least. First, it would have to be brought up at one of our General Meetings and put to a vote of the membership. While I have no grand insight into what the outcome might be, my own feeling is that other than assuring all who participate are members of the AMA and getting AMA's certification of the event, generally there are lots of preparations and clean-up. And then there is the fact that no doubt some members' frequencies would be tied up by some who are not members of the CCW, not something that would go down easily. And finally, the heli pad at our field is also used by the smaller electrics, who would have to give up flying when those heli events are held - which, I am certain, would not be appreciated; giving up flying at the field they pay for to others who are not members of the CCW!
If you would like us to bring this issue up to the membership please let me or one of the other CCW officers know and we'll put you or your representative on the agenda for our next meeting. Have you though about the Basin?
Ben Strasser.
Long, see if you could work out a deal with this guy. It's a really nice field and much closer to some club members than whittier.

Yeah I am slower then most people when it comes to learning to fly. I have had my 450 since June 07 and I am barely getting into inverted flight. I can flip and all that I have been able to for awhile. Just I get nervous when trying to fly inverted backwards or forwards flight. Even inverted hovering makes me nervous and I suck at it. Espcially if I am low.
Whatever shame might be assoicated with it there ya go.

Sean he is kind of telling us all to become members first. I am a purchasing manager I do this for a living. In fewer words the answer would be no but he will bring it to the board if you still want him to.
Edit:
Though money talks.

So, its kinda a no unless we get a membership? Or it is a sanctioned event?Yeah I am slower then most people when it comes to learning to fly. But I did my first flip like 2 months ago.

I agree. By the sound of it, I think he wants money.

Well, wasnt the SCHC baseball field like 700 bucks upfront for a year?

Yeah I think we should just look for another place. No crowd of people are going to be ok with us just popping up a FunFly. Santa Fe Dam sounds great if it would work but I think we should look for a nice place.
We have a lot of power if we all chip in a little bit.

It ended up being $700 bucks because thats how much Gene wanted to pay the little league.

hey Sean why don't you contact your local club and make it happen for us to be able to have a funfly there, its the least you can do no?

Already contacted them. The thing is though, they want money, and it's not my job to discuss that. Thats long's decision

Ok guys, here is my opinion.
Because our club has not been sanctioned by AMA and our club has nothing to get covered when something happens we have to change our Funflies into a different way. We still have Funflies whenever we want but we cannot advertise our FunFlies publicly and invite people to join in like before. We will do it differently.
Our funflies will be considered as the meetings of a group of people flying together. By this way we can gather at any flying fields at anytime without worrying about being shut down or any liable issues. However, the funflies will be smaller than before.
Seanathan, where exactly is the crosswinds field?

I think if you go that route SCHC is done. I could be wrong but that's what I think. May as well just throw in the towel now. No BBQs', no calling Kyle down from the other coast. Nothing more then a Socal shout out. Hey we are going to Whittier this weekend come on out if you want kind of thing.
So if we need to be sanctioned by the AMA to be respected let's take the steps to do so. Let's set the goals and meet them. Put the money in the hat if you will.
Don't get me wrong I will eventually get to the level where I will go out and fly at Whittier with the crowd but currently I just want to fly with SCHC or stay home.

The CopterX 200.
This thing is small and that in itself makes it hard to build.
