Saturday looks like the best day for sure.

I have a new starter I got with my Thunder Tiger kit that I don't need, make me an offer.

Vic: You could build Saturday and then watch it rain Sunday.

Got my copter X 200 motor today but it didn't come with a pinion.

hey guys, i just came up with a new move (i think??)
a tick tock funnel...
you do short, fast ticktocks with the heli moving in a funnel.
i did a few on g3 and they are hard but i have never heard of them before.

I seen Bert Magbuna doing them already. I think ****** caught it on HD. Maybe not don't remember.

Or, Fly Saturday, and build it Sunday while it rains.

Now thats gonna take some very hard self-control, with a brand new kit sitting at home just waiting to be worked on!!!! :)

I enjoy building heli's as much as flying them!!!

Im psyced(is that how you spell it?) Im going to the Pisgah lava tubes on saturday(ah and sean I can bring mine are the dampners in yours ok?) It is the BEST place to fly! Its not a flying site or anything, but its wide open and hardly anyone goes (or knows about it) there!

Scott, I don't know if I will be going now. I was just night flying and a blade almost hit me when it flew off. I don't know why this is happening, I've tried loctite, new spindle, new screws, and this still happens.

It has to be a user specific problem Sean. My blades fly off only upon impact. How much head speed?

What is happening the screw is letting go or the spindle is breaking?

Head speed is around 3200 per an online headspeed calculator. The screw is actually letting go, even though there's loctite on both sides and it has cured. Thankfully though, both me and the heli are OK:)

WHERE AND WHEN IS EVERYONE GOING FLYING THIS WEEKEND? SATURDAY AT THE BASIN OR WHITTIER?

Get higher quality screws. I"m running a 3330 headspeed per headspeed calc and it's held together nicely. Still need a sky tach, I notice it doesn't go above 2800rpms. It's only good for my 90.

I've had to do a bit of unscheduled wrenching but my stuff is flying perfectly.

turfed the Scorpion while inverted, low light got me again, that and I made the wrong move. cost me a few parts. I've got a carbon boom on it that is cracked and has been, works fine and made it thru the inverted landing. :)

Sean, what kind of loctite??? try red :) apply it and let the heli sit for a day or two...... believe me, the screw won't come out (ever ;) )

Don't use red. Do use higher quality screws. I got a couple RC-TEK ones that are like seriously tough. I am not bringing them to you though I am too lazy.

I see that Mitch is going to Whittier, where is everyone else going this week I want to get my flight time in on my freshly built and tuned by the man Align 500! I have 4 battery packs to go through on this bad boy and a thunder power 1010c that can charge both of them at once woohoo:thumbup:

I checked the weather forecaste it seems like it's going to rain sunday and be cloudy on saturday so any flying will need to be done on Saturday.

We just got back from some night flying on campus. It was dark enough to play with our little trex 450s and it was very fun although very cold.

Man, just came back from what Jason calls a sausage fest here at my house with Peter and Hovig. Those guys are crazy together. LOL

Anyway, I'm up for flying Saturday too probably. I really want to build my Trex 500 this weekend also. It would kill me seing you guys fly yours and mine sitting at home waiting to be built!!!! OUCH.

Sean,

Are you cleaning the bolts and the female threads on the feathering shaft to remove any oil from the manufacturing process?

I keep finding oil on/in both and cleaning it out. I do not run at the RPM you do but, so far, have never had one of these things come loose. In fact, they are extremely difficult to remove when the need arises.

I broke my 1.5mm allen driver on my Sky Shark feathering shaft bolts. :( Had to go buy a 5 dollar cheapie from Hobby House. I usually use the little L wrenches but I could find one and that was the outcome. I guess I over loctite some stuff, that was blue too.

Mike,

Better too much locktite than not enough.

Mike,

too much is NFG!.. place a drop or two (loctite) on a platic sheet i use tape, then apply loctite with a toothpick . i have built trex 600 using 2 drops of loctite, applied this way.

Jim I agree with Richard here. I also use your method but in this instance I would agree that if you had to pick an extreme too much would be better.

We are talking about ejecting blades in flight!
