Honestly emag... I don't want that title... People like Bert M and others like Szabo, etc.... EARNED that title.. not me.... I am a person that TRULY wants to see people succeed... YOU DONT have to be a good pilot to do so and I try to prove that every day with what I do.... Thanks for offering the title but I humbly ask to not be called that if it is OK with you? Thanks man :).....

Bob

Yes Lord Finless :noteworthy:noteworthy I won't call ya that anymore.

Finless

You are extremely right Finless. Most of the time, I go down to the end of my cul-de-sac(if there arent any cars) and practice my basics, hovering tail in, nose in, side in, backwards flight, forward flight, and a little pirouetting flight(still working on that) And usually, if it isnt too windy, i put my throttle curves way low to get a nice long flight time to practice my basics and keep rust free. But, up at the park, its 100 across throttles baby!http://www.helifreak.com/images/smilies/nodding%20grin.gif

Personally IT SHOWS man.... Many don't want to spend the time getting REAL GOOD and want the MAD 3Dz as fast as they can.... Now that you know what you know, you also should help teach the right way and the wrong way man..... Many can learn to fly but it takes a GOOD man to spend time teaching others how to! Think about it :) It's DAMN rewarding to share what you have learned!

I am NOT a god.... never claimed to be... Just want people to be successful and safe! Has anyoneone doubted otherwise? If so SPEAK!

Please don't call me a heli god if you don't mind.... Thanks....

Bob

hmm.... if we can't call you a god, then how about Guru?? :D you have certainly earned that title :P

Finless Bob,

With all due respect and believe me I have tons..

Bob to believe it is safe to be in the range of anyone flying is as bad for your own safety as it would be if for Victor's safety if he really doesn't know basic orientation and is trying 3D. I am not saying you shouldn't take extra precaution for the less coordinated person but lets be real. A heli can fail. Do not think just because it's Bert Magbuna you can stand right on the flight line talking to your pal. I seen Bert's heli blow right up in flight. Pay attention and take extra precaution where need be.. If you don't know the pilot treat him like a newb. I actually prefer you clear the field good when I am flying so I don't have to worry about where to dump it if things go bad.

I am sorry but emag and egg are youngsters and the truth need be told.

LOl, I am a safety nut(sometimes), just ask Sean. After every flight I carefully inspect my heli and replace any worn parts ASAP. I try to keep my heli looking decent and klean it off with some damp napkins and a soft towel a couple times a month.

I take mine apart to clean it and check bearings so much I wear out the screws and have to replace them. I fanatically clean the threads before applying new loctite. I am like a bad case of OCD. lol

Smith... different argument man... We can have THAT one another time and honestly I wont disagree with you!

The safety thing is NOT limited to n00bs! But when a n00b flys unsafe your simply COMPOUNDING what your talking about even MORE!!!! They are INCREASING the risks... All things considered... I understand what your talking about and could tell you storied like the FIRST time the Align 600E grips failed! I was there ON THE LINE....

However...... When you CAN fly great, you also help REDUCE the risks...
I saw a pilot last year blow off an entire tail boom assembly on a 600 and LAND the heli... Anyone else would have been under the force of the winds and that heli would have gone anywhere...

At IRCHA I SAW and WITNESSED Jason Krause purposely CRASH a heli he could have auto'ed but he didn't and blew off rotor head speed to KEEP it from coming into the crowd. This footage is on Dog's IRCHA DVD. Because he DID have skillz he saved a accident!

So why am I bringing this up? Well it's this... LEARN your limitations and take the RISKS but BE SAFE.... Can we all be 100% safe... Nope... But let's not be freakin STUPID about it... A Pro can recover and save a heli at a level you and I could NOT comprehend! These guys do take risks but also know and have a "good sense" of the risk a limitations. A freekin n00b has no clue and has a higher risk of a heli failure to boot! So you can point out this pro flying as you say but I bet you 80 to 1 odds the n00b with a new heli flying BEYOND his limits is MUCH more of a risk than a pro with much more experience flying within his limits...
If you disagree with that... you shouldn't go gambling ;)

Flying RC everyday has risks.... WHY make them worse.... Don;t think you can blame a pro for a high risk man.... The AMA will tell you it is NOT those guys making all the claims! UNFAIR comparison man....

BTW I want to say something.... Been into RC since 1976... I have been injured 3 times by SOMEONE ELSE! They are all still here locally and all flying TODAY... I am not going to name names because they are friends of mine but EVERY ONE OF THEM flys safe... So the last thing I want with my freakin injury luck is a person that cares NOTHING about safety but only how he looks to others flying!

I almost got hit by a 600E heli last year because of this SAME attitude... The person was more concerned about HOW HE LOOKED to the crowd than the risk he was putting others in... NO NAMES but you know who you are!

Can you guys do me a favor? Take a vote on a personal note and if you want Mitch to stay one by one you PM him and tell him to stay. If he offended you take it to him too but Mitch has good points.

Running Mitch off may seem like an easy solution to a personal problem but he is a ready and willing contributor to our thread. Not sticking up for him sooner is my bad.

You too Victor.

I never told Mitch to leave. I just said he has a bad attitude at times, and others have noted that to me as well. If he's cool and not hot headed about things, then were cool too. There's also no need to curse people out in your own club out in front of others out in the field. That was uncalled for.

I do think he needs to apologize on how he's made bad comments about our club and Long. We never did nothing to him to start saying that we are unreliable and lack leadership.

Yea, I have 100% control of my heli's at all times. Its just those who don't fly with us regularly that can't seem to understand that for some reason. Guess they will never understand. And that Mini-Titan video was from like 5 months ago too. Way old.

You are better than I am. I wouldn't have tried those dives at those speeds. That was nice collective control it stopped flat. That shiz was off the hook dawg.

Meee tooo. I miss it cause it just flew soo smooth and easy. One day when I get rich, I'll make sure to get one back in my small flock of heli's!! :)

For sure it was the best 450 I've flown to date.

Yea, I think I probably would of kept the Mini-Titan at the time I sold it if it had Carbon Fiber frames. I still hope Thunder Tiger one day makes some killer carbon frames for it. That will probably be the day I get another one!!! :)

Finless Bob, with all do respect, I can and will understand
your point. I however have to say that no matter what happens or what anyone says, this is still A HOBBY! I understand learning your orientations. I can agree with that. Tell me this, who's to say PERSONALLY when it's time to move forward? So if one learning the ropes of heli 3D is only a few weeks old should be persecuted?? I think not. To me, its a freaking HOBBY. I make over 200,000 a year snowboarding and surfing... in my down time I fly with all u good folks. Bob, u are a VERY respected member of out HELI community and I would NEVER go against ur judgement or advice. BUT in the long run, this is a freaking hobby. I don't care if the guy is 1 day old or 3 years old flying helis. The bottom line is we play with a TOY after all... will it hurt someone when out of control, yea of course... but the whole nose in for ONE minute, side in for ONE minute is just not far. One PAYING for AMA insurance, I don't care if its ur FIRST DAY flying, if that person chooses to FLIP and ROLL, then more POWER TO HIM or HER! Come on guys , this is Totally LAME and out of control. Whats with the POWER TRIPS??? Freaking ELECTRIC HELICOPTERS at the end! Let it go. Stop attacking Vic and anyone one else looking to progress. I am a heli newbie. I have been fling for about 7 months. I can inverted hover and cut the grass... piro flips continuous, inverted forward flight controlled figure 8's, pitch pump, tail in, nose, in, side in... does that make me any COOLER or Better than another fellow hobby enthusiast??? NO! I can add that I am a TOC and IMAC competitor, etc, and I snowboard, surf for 5 sponsors... build race cars, hold the distance gap record for skateboarding... but guess what... I like flying and hanging out with u friends, Come on and give it a REST... no matter how u look at it and how Dangerous it is, this is still a HOBBY. NO ONE CAN JUDGE WHO OR WHEN one is ready to Flio and roll. To look down at them is PLAIN UNFAIR. At an AMA Sanctioned field, man, if its ur first day flying a MX400, flip that ***** if u feel confident! It it puts a smile on ur face, DO IT! Lighten up guys!

Volcum you as a snow boarder of all people should know the difference man... So when you get a n00b out there in a place he should not be... YOU THINK that is safe for him or the down hill people?

I have probably been skiing for more years than I have been in RC.

I ask you to look at this hobby JUST like you look at snowboarding man! I am a strong skier and in NO WAY would I put someone in jeopardy by taking them somewhere they should not be... YET skiing and snowboarding are pretty much like flying helis man... ESPECIALLY when you start flying helis that swing 600mm blades!!!! Respect is what I am telling you and is EXACTLY how you would TREAT someone on the slope MAN!
Your argument is without context when in fact your correlation is totally in context dude.... WOULD YOU put a new boarder in danger on the freakin cornice at Mammoth AND put the people lower on the hill in the danger of that new person running into them? NOW YOU think about that DUDE! There is NO difference!

Both are a fun things to do and BOTH can be dangerous.... So you want to make a context of snowboarding?
PLEASE let me know when your above me on the cornice so I know to watch for someone that doesn't GIVE A SHIT or CARE for others safety...
THAT IS ASININE dude and I will tell you that to your face... Would you take a n00b friend to the cornice of Mammoth?... If so then I think you are reckless.... If that n00b was a friend then you put his LIFE and others in danger.... Nice friend man....
So you still think this comparison is no different? 50 sized helis can KILL and INJURE just like putting a n00b on the cornice man....

Here is an example of what a 50 sized heli can do to a person! Doesn't look much worse than people I have dragged off the mountain to me (and yes I was once one the ski team)?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdIlUYiVmnc
This is SO gory that you have to have a youtube account to view it man.... I have seen people hurt like this because of being on a hill before they are ready! e.g. I have seen compound fractures THIS BAD....

So.... still want to make this "light and breezy" and compare it to snowboarding? If so please don't come to anywhere I fly man and I hope I never see you on a hill near me!

Your above comment to me shows a total LACK of regard for ANYONE else but YOU and what you are doing! Not everyone can have "your credentials" man.... In fact because of your post, 12 year old "look" in typing and spelling, I question if what you say and do is even the TRUTH.......

Bob
