I already produce a 8-10S 6-light lipo alarm.

I get so few requests for them that I make them up when required. I can do a dual-piezo for 8-10S but at the high revs/noise frequencies, the alarm is hard to hear.
I can "see the light" of the 6-light alarms at quite a distance. I use one on my 6S Trex 600 camera ship and I take notice at 300 feet!!!
A 10S alarm is US$45 plus $6 postage world-wide. I charge once for postage if multiple alarms are ordered. Photos in my website... below. Any questions, just ask. Either PM or email me efliernz@gmail.com. I don't always get to the forums to view questions in posts :)

Thanks Phil. I agree that there can be an issue with ESC's being able to spin multipole outrunners at high speed. It is also great that the bearings are rated for 60,000rpm but that doesn't mean the rest of the motor will hold together at that speed. It only takes a little movement or distortion to cause imbalance and vibration which can then lead to either an electrical or mechanical failure. I am not saying anything bad about the Scorpion motors but until the manufacturer provides a suitable rating or does appropriate testing I would not take the risk. A 3032-1000kv motor on 10s will be spinning at over 35,000rpm, 75% more than the manufacturer has tested or approved, that's way too much for me to risk. I look forward to more test data from the the manufacturer on the 35mm and 40mm series which he says are designed for up to 10s.

ken i agree with what your saying regarding the rest of the motor holding up to those rpm's and with a lot of the cheaper outrunners i would definitely be thinking twice, but i have no worries in that regards with the scorpion and as i'm building it myself i know the rotor will be well balanced :), it might also be worth pointing out that the new 3032 has a large radial bearing that supports the bottom edge of the fluxring (i have attached a pic to show the difference, old kit to the left and new kit to the right), i am unsure about this larger bearings rating as i haven't got the updated version in my hands yet but i will definitely improve the motors resistance to axial loads :)

just as an fyi lucien @ innov8tive is the US distributor of scorpion products, not the manufacturer, i've spoken with george (who is the manufacturer) about my intentions of using my 3032 in a heli on 9S and he says it will be ok, the only thing he advised was to perhaps upgrade to the newer version for a little extra insurance. anyhow we will see how it turns out soon enough, wish me luck lol :D

ukgroucho, i wish i had the extra funds to spring for a jazz! i have read and heard nothing but good things about them and their governor is legendary. i can't wait to see how you progress with your 10S hurricane

Thanks for the info Phil. If you know the manufacturer then I suggest you provide feedback that he would be well advised to provide either max voltage or max RPM specifications if he wants to see his motors become widely used in helis or other high voltage applications.

Good luck with your home-made Scorpion, why not start a build thread about the motor, I am sure there would be many interested folk?

thanks ken, i will indeed provide info and do a build thread for others to see how easy it is to build a motor and configure it to exactly the specs you require :)

as for george i don't know him per say, i just contacted him through his RCG user account :) i have indeed passed on my concerns regarding the lack of max voltage/rpm specs for his motors but i'm not sure what he'll do regarding this as he doesn't have his own website, hopefully he'll inform lucien @ innov8tive of these and he can add them to his site

Well if i could get one of these helis to fly for 6 mins like this vid of Justin Chi using 2 cheep 4s packs then i think i would chose the 550 as my big heli.

Vid is here, scroll down a bit and look under Sunday, Vid called: Justin Chi - Electric 550 - 55mb Video

Looks much better than the 1st maiden flight from him.

Damn, I thought it was bad getting whipped by my nephew on the XBox360. That kid is about 2 feet high...

Hi Everyone!

I just opened up an account here on Heli-Freaks a few weeks ago. I have been getting caught up on the threads regarding the Scorpion motors, and getting familiar with the people posting here. I will be checking out the site on a regular basis now, and will be available to answer any questions that you may have about the Scorpion motors and ESC's or the X-Caliber Li-Po batteries that we distribute.

Once I get the new 3032 motors in stock later this month, I will run some extensive testing on them with a variety of smaller props at high voltage settings to see how fast they can turn safely. If anyone else has any other questions about the motors, let me know and I will answer them for you.

Sincerely,

Lucien Miller
