guys im having a big problem with the stock esc connections! i tryed to solder the connectors from the esc to the batt than i was plugging the batt in and it sparked! i must have soldered them wrong these connectors are hard to solder so i was wondering if that could hurt my battery and also if i can cut the connectors off and put the deans in i was wondering if that is possible! thanks. now i ruined the batt connectors so if i can i will cut the old ones off and replace the both of them with the deans connectors it makes it more easier when i can watch finless solder on line thanks

Put Deans on both, make sure you use the female dean on the battery to avoid accidental shorting and when cutting the old connectors off do it 1 wire at a time. I've seen people cut thru both at once and short the batt, and like finless says, when soldering the battery wires do them 1 at a time.

What fixxxer said. And when cutting off the old connector on your battery do NOT cut through both wires at the same time. Your wire cutters will short the wires together while it's cutting through them. Cut and solder one wire at a time, then do the second. This is providing you didn't already damage your battery. If you have let it sit for a while and you see no sign of puffing it may be ok.

Look to this post for all the Heli 101 setup videos, including the video about soldering Dean's onto batt and ESC. I was not sure from your post if you said you've already watched finless soldering video or not...but if you have not, then you can find it here. And watch the rest of them too! They are great!

Try not to run the lipo down to it's minimum voltage and be gentle with it on the first few flights to allow the cells to bed in, make sure you don't let it exceed 60c during flights and keep it balanced.

I can only recommend what I have used which is a FMA Cellpro 4s charger/balancer and Revolution Lipo's. I know of several others using the same setup and having excellent results.

There is a good sticky on RCgroups with a lot of info on Lipo batteries and proper usage.

Post #8 also contains many additional informational links.
