I have a 401 with a 9253 servo. The 401 gain is set to 75.

I have the governor set to 1800 in Normal, 1900 in idle 1, and 1950 in idle 2.

In Normal, the tail drifts to the left (nose to the right). If I let it, it would slowly drift all the way around. I tried hovering with the wind (slight wind) to my right, and with the wind to my left. It didn't matter - the heli would turn to the right.

When I selected idle 1 or 2, the drifting would stop!

What's up with that??????

are you using the gyro sensitivty which allows to set different gains by the flight mode you are in

Yes - they are all set to 75.

If thats your actual gain then thats about 20 percent or so more than you need.

Check your mounting tape for the gyro, that you dont have the wires pulling on the sensor or a strap touching the sensor.

Sounds like a vibration issue to me.

it is also possible that he doesn't have enough left rudder i might try making the linkage one turn longer and see what happens. one thing is the gyro in heading hold (l.E.D on gyro light on solid)

I replaced the old, tired 9253 tail servo with a new Hitec 6965 servo, and the tail authority is now rock solid!

I ran the headspeed all the way down to 1700, and she held like a vice!

I am really happy with the 6965 - much more so than Futaba's 9254 on my other heli.
