Hi all. I'm new to all of this, but have been practicing hovering on my newly acquired G3. I understand there is a way to set it up for just flying around, and being either in or behind the heli while flying. All I know how to do so far is to watch it as it goes away out of site whereas I'd rather be right there and take a few sightseeing trips. Any help for a new G3 owner?
You cant fly that way in real life, so what purpose would it serve. Your suppose to turn the heli around long before you cant see it anymore.

I think you can only do it at certain fields, but in the view menu there's an option for "cockpit view."
It's fun for about 10 seconds.

Thanks Warp. I looked around and found a post that stirred my interest a few days ago:
AFAIK there are a number of different "view modes"- "fixed" ,"chase", "cockpit"
IIRC, there,s a choice of position for "fixed-view" ,also you can alter the size of the viewing -angle(alters the amount of scenery -to-heli in the picture) camera -lag,(-alters how much the heli goes out from the middle of the screen,or even disappears of the edge ,if you fly too fast! )
In the Launcher startup screen, there's a number of options ,one of which is a full manual of the loads of features which G3 has.
You could print it out, but it's HUGE. I haven't even used 5% of the features available.
I prefer the "rendered"scenery,as you appear to fly "in" the environment, rather than being imposed "on" the scene which is like a backdrop ,with little depth-perspective.(also, in rendered scenes, you can fly miles and explore, great fun in cockpit or chase-mode,when bored with "practice" http://www.runryder.net/img/smilies/smile.gif Downside is,of course, it needs a lot of processor, memory and graphics capability. BUT you can also use photofields." I forget the gentlemans name that posted this so please excuse me for that.
I looked in the startup and couldn't find "render", or maybe he meant something totally different. Somewhere to I have a copy of a thread where some guy said he flies in his heli over and through the streams and mountians, finds a place he likes, steps out of his heli and then flies it as a model. When he's done, he gets back in and goes back to his base . I'm looking really hard for that one now, but I didn't copy it, nor do I know the forum. I'm stomping my left foot because I didn't copy it.

I found what I was looking for. It's a ton of fun, for me anyway. I am glad the RF g.3 has something like this, I get bored doing the hovering each and every time. This tosses some new fun into the ring.
Ok, first go to "Simulation", and then "Select Airport". Now find Serria Nevada, and click on the "+". There are several of these you can use, but so far my favorite is "Buena Vista". I put my favorite Heli there by simply clicking the "OK". Now you can click on "Cockpit" or "Chase" view, by clicking on the letter "C". Go ahead and fly the heli wherever you want to. I like going down valleys, up to the tops of mountians, and all the while I'm practicing landings and hovering at the places I land.
Anyway, it's a kick for me:)
