View Full Version : Tight blade grips

I am at the point in my build where I am going to mount the blades. I did a test fit with one of the blades and the two washers to see how everything goes together. I discovered that getting all three items into the blade grip is a really tight fit. Getting the screw through everything is a nightmare all to itself. When the screw is through and the nut just on far enough to keep the screw captive, the blades are really tight in the grips. I can move them, but it is a chore.

So, my question is how tight are the blades supposed to be? If I remove one of the washers, there is a definite gap that I am afraid would cause problems.

This is my first build so I don't want to screw this up.

Thanks,

Steve

On my Lepton the blades are just alittle bit tight, but not totally free. I had to use the nut to get it tight enough. Well, you may sand a little bit the washers. If you have a total of 0.1 to 0.2mm removed it should be enough.

Is it a Lepton or a 3dx500?

Nicolas,

It is a Lepton, not a 3dx500.

Thanks for the tip. If it turns out that the blades are, indeed, too tight, I will sand the washers a bit.

You may also use 1 of the stock washer and another one less thick. The small bad centering of the blade in the grips is without any consequence at all. Don't worry.
