I am thinking that a tray would make learning to fly a little easier and I would appreciate some input from the vets.Does anybody use one? Some might think that a tray is not very cool but being cool is not high on my list of priorities.I just want to fly.

I have been flying with a TX tray for 30 years-way before they were popular here in the US.Man I used to get a load of crap when I went to the flightline with it-
But it's the way to go...I use it to eliminate "Body English"in other words,to prevent me from moving the TX around when I am doing a maneuver-Like the Phone book ads used to say"let your fingers do the walkin"...try it....you might like it!

I am learning to fly using the pinch method and it feels a little awkward holding the TX.My worst crash was a result of accidently flipping into idle up.I am thinking that a tray would eliminate the possibility of that and let me concentrate on stick movement.Do most people make their own or are there some vendors who stock them?

I made mine on a metal brake in my shop-
There are many vendors that sell them-check some of the RC Pattern sites(aerobatics with Planks) and you will see a lot.
Also look in the flight videos for Justin Chi(4 year old Heli pilot)posted on here-his Dad can point you in the direction of a ready made one-some are quite expensive.

A tray that hands from your shoulders? Like what's that crazy 5 years old pilot was wearing in one of his videos?

I'd think it's too cumbersome. I thought the neck strap holds the TX in place pretty well.

Here it is---as you can see I use an old camera strap attached to the 2 offset vertical pieces-

From6061 T6 aluminum Plate(get it at a sign shop
Bend a lip at 90* add the 2 vertical pieces-you will need to offset them forward to balance the Transmitter-long eyebolts work well(Home Depot).
Let me know how it goes:thumbup:

I have a small sheet of .066 but no way to brake it.No problem though,I think I can come up with some small angle to make the 90s.the straps and eye-bolts should be the easy part.I will post a pic when I am finished.Thank you for the input. todd
