Hi,
just a quick stupid question, when do you know it's time to install the red dampers on the titan50? I am currently into fast forward flight doing 540° stall turns and tight circuits and thinking about trying a loop or roll (bin bag ready).
Would it be a good idea to get a metal head block or can that wait?

Ta for now, Leigh.

Metal headblock can wait untill your plastic one is worn out. I'd get better dampners once you start doing tight turns or if your old ones are worn out.

Leigh,
i'd say you'll be fine with the stock dampers and head for now. The general consensus on the metal head is, dont worry about replacing it until it develops some slop on the main shaft, then upgrade it.

But if you do decide you want to put the red dampers in now, it wont hurt, just realize its gonna keep the initial vibration at wind up in a little longer and make the helicopter more responsive.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'll swap them out as I am now doing tight & fast turns, (just love the sound of the blades beating the air :D) Wont do any harm to have a look in the head as well.

I have been doing rolls and loops for about 2 months now with my R50 and i can tell you from the first loop i was complaining about how sluggish the heli was, so i went ahead and upgraded to the green paddles and red dampeners. I also added a gov and i can tell you if your doing 540s you will have no problems doing the rolls or loops. You will have no issues upgrading i think you will welcome the performance the red/green combo gives you.

Cheers Felony, I changed the dampers to the red ones at the weekend, only took about 10mins. I've not had a chance to try them out yet though. I can roll and loop all day on the sim (reflex), I just hope I'm successful in real life, I'll pick at quiet day :D.
What head speed are you guys running for you idle ups? I have 1650 for normal and 1850 for idle up.

I am at 2000 HS with a Mavrikk Pro G4 Blades. I fly on the G3 sim with a hopped up very twitchy very responsive heli, guess thats why i thought my R50 stock paddles and damps were sluggish. If your rolling and looping on the sim you should be able to do it in the air. I also found (and this is just me) its easier to roll then loop and i think it is because a roll happens quicker and the loop is a little slower and gives you time to get nervous as it climbs toward the sky.

also if your not adding green paddles atleast move your fly bar control linkage out to the outside holes if you havent done so already that wil give yu more cyclic

Hi,
With my shuttle I run 1800 on 550 NHP carbon blades and I fly @ 9000ft so lift IS a problem.
I have been using a metal head with stock dampeners( they are pretty sluggish by now).

Let me tell you if you have enough cyclic ( 6 º minimum) it will roll. It might not be extremely fast but it will roll.

What you want is good forward speed ( not extremely fast but if you pick up inertia from a good 40 ft stall turn drop , would do the trick) and make sure you are nice and leveled.

It helps to give it just a tad of elev (about 10ºmax) to direct the inertia of the heli slightly upwards, and during the roll leave the elevator alone until you complete it.
if you give elev while inverted you might fly it strait to the ground.
The speed and angle are key, because if you don't have enough cyclic angle and take too long to rotate, it will help you to "glide" through it.
Remember : altitude helps a lot if you get mixed up.

I hope this helps GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the advice guys. I have 6° on cyclic and may turn the hs up a little. Hopefully try it out on Sunday if the weather and wife permits.
I'll report back when I've done it, hopefully with good news lol ;)

:D well I managed to do some loops, a couple of the first ones where a bit rough but on following flights they where good....good enough for me anyways.
Also did a backwards flip which was fine, side ways flip was slow and crappy and I really bogged the head down................never mind, the Raptor lives to fly another day, can't wait to try again!!!

Cheers guys.
