View Full Version : Is my RX dead

I use a 7CHP and have a R146iP Rx on my Blade CP. After a minor crash today, I replaced the bent main shaft and went back to flying. Anytime there's right rudder input either from the stick or the gyro, the pitch servo moves way beyond endpoint adding negative pitch, but collective is as it should be. I checked the TX to rule it out and it's fine.
Is my RX dead??

check for a bad servo, front servo
If I'm not mistaken all servos move together to provide pitch...

Yes, Dwntyme, you are not mistaken. All 3 servos do move to provide collective pitch. Typically on a Blade CP, the channel 1 servo, which is on the right rear, is aileron, the left rear servo, channel 6, is pitch, and the front right servo, channel 2, is elevator. The left rear is the one that goes berzerk with right rudder.
I swapped out the RX and got the same results. All 3 servos are good and the main rotor ESC is okay. Thankfully the gyro (Futaba GY401)isn't damaged either . It appears that the problem is with the CC Pixie7A ESC for the tail. I substituted another servo for the Pixie and it's all good. Everything works fine until I connect the Tail ESC and the servo is possessed again....... really weird. I'm going to change out the tail ESC and see what happens.
I would have never imagined that an ESC, on the other side of a gyro no less, would cause this kind of problem. (And, yes, the "red" wire on the Pixie is disconnected).

Hahahaha you beat me to the redwire... I just crashed my CPP because of the tailmotor guts came out.
Damn-age to the rotorhub(broke in half), bent mainshaft, right servo stripped, and lighter wallet :) to replace the parts....

Are you still using E-flite servos? Remember they're guaranteed for a year, so E-flite will replace them.
I got tired of killing servos and put on a set of Hitec HS-55's. In fact, a crash due to the same kind of tail motor failure you had took out 2 servos and I only had 1 S-75's left.... so, I decided to try the Hitec's :dontknow . To date the 55's have withstood several "incidents" that would have trashed the S-75's. Not bad considering that the cost is the same! They move opposite to the S-75's so you have to reverse servo direction, but I'm pretty sure I like them better!

yeah I like HS-55 as well, I have them on my other heli's with no problems, I will put them
on my CPP now, tired of buying s75 servo kits...

It was the tail ESC. Replaced it last night and did a kitchen hover. Still find it strange that the ESC caused the servo problem. :happyd
