Hi Guys,

I have installed my Askman 360 mount, and I am having a hard time programming my TX (9c) to get an easy pan control to pan in both directions, and stop. Ideally I would use a slider with stop at center, and slow pan, moving to fast pan in each direction the more I move the slider. I would also be happy with stop through slow to fast on the slider, and use a mix on a switch to reverse the direction.

How do you have your pan controls set up for a one man show?

any help would be appreciated, maybe Askman can chime in?

Thanks

Andrew, I am using Askman's mount on my mast, so have similar requirements. I think the nature of the endless servo precludes "centering" like you are suggesting, as the servo does not have a centre as such. The servo only knows "stop" and "move", but could only centre if there are some external electronic triggers fed back into the radio.

"Stop" is determined by Tx trim position (but the mount will be pointing wherever it was when the stick is let go)
"Move" speed is determined by the end-point setting on the Tx. I have not noticed any effect from changing expo settings (but haven't pursued this since reducing endpoints resulted in a nce smooth panning speed)

Hope this helps a bit!

Andrew,

Even though I am a one man show, I used 2 Tx's. This way I have no wires running from the heli Rx to the pan mount since it goes 360.

So I fly my heli with a 9C, and I "fly" the camera mount with a 7C.
I wired in a foot switch into the 7C, so I can just step on it to activate a mix. The mix pans and shoots for me. If I am not shooting panos (360's) then my foot switch is plugged into the camera trigger on the 7C, and I shoot normal stills by pointing the heli in the directions I want, checking the downlink monitor, then step on the footswitch to crank off a few shots.

And folks, you don't want to know what he uses to play "Alexander's Ragtime Band" while taking photos, but I bet he has to wash the instruments afterwards! :):):)
