Been thinking about my 1st scale project and I want to build an MD500E or 530. I'm looking at the Thunder Tiger fuse and modifying it to civilian "status", and both the Century and Funkey 500E fuses...
Any particular reason to go with one over the others? Mechs will be my Raptor 50V2 with OS .50 SX-H (non-hyper) engine...
Thx

I can't help with the scale question, but I can make you feel better.
I have a post in the duralight forum that has almost 300 views and not one answer. I talked it over with my therapist, and I feel much better now:bawl
Misfit, I :nanabobo:wink:

I have the TT MD530 fuse, and it's a no brainer, easy bolt-in for the R50 mechanics. With the V2, you can either cut 7/8" from the fuselage boom, or swap to a Titan boom. I cut the fuse, but if I had it to do over, I would switch to the Titan boom, as it's a little more scale with the longer boom. I also think the skids are much more scale (for high skids) than the Century (I think FunKey are the same Century) fuses. Also, it's very easy to flip the T/R to the scale side with the Raptor mechs.
The TT fuse doesn't have a lot of detail, but it's easy to add, and doll it up as much as you'd like.
I'm pretty sure you've already seen mine, but I'm always happy to post a few gratuitous pics!:YeaBaby:

OK cool.. I was kinda leaning towards that one anyways as I prefer the long skid version of this heli...
I'll tell the wife to put it on my B-day list. :)
Any way to get the mains turning in the proper direction? Does O.S. make a backwards running hyper or is there a belt-drive for the Raptor?

I don't know about reversing the mains?? But, I haven't really researched that...
I have the T/R rotating up into the downwash, and it flies perfectly. I think I would do a 5 blade main before I would worry about reversing the rotation, and the 5 blade rotor will cost almost 1/2 what I've got into this thing!! I decided not to go there, although if it had room for a cockpit, I might think about it... even with a CCPM conversion, I don't think there's room for a cockpit with R50 mechs...

hi rodan,
I too have the md 530 and although it took a while to get used to the extra weight, I was wondering what pitch and throttle curves u might be running on yours?
Im using a os 50 hyper and hatori pipe. Maybe this info might help others too?
Thanks.

I don't think I want my 1st foray into scale to be an "uber-scale" project. If I end up with something as nice as your ship, I'll be extremely happy.
I think I'm going to look into some sort of belt drive to get the mains running the proper way... Dunno if I'll follow through, but it'll be an interesting exercise...
Thx!

Hi Kevin,
I have the red MD500E Funkey fuselage with the Raptor 50V2 and OS 50 engine. It is easy to build, looks great and flies really well.
Funkey painted fuselages are really high quality.

Wanna paint it myself as I'm looking to copy a specific helicopter... How'd the Raptor mechs fit in that fuse??
