Does anyone know of a cheaper replacement tail motor for the Axe CP? I've burned out two of the Helimax version of it and am sick of paying 20 bucks a crack! This thing flies great but is a total money sinkhole! Thanks!

I think I saw that if you go DD you can run Blade CP motors, which are real cheap. Plus if you burn them up Horizon RC will give you a 50% credit toward's new motors. I am going to look into it. Oh yea! make sure to use heat sink compound.

I am running the Blade tail motor with the Axe gear and rotor...Buy part numbers EFLH1119 and EFLH1161 and you are there...I have about 10 battery packs through the blade motor and all is well...If it dies tomorrow, $10 gets a new one...

Hi Folks!

Thanks for the input! Sorry to take so long to get back with you guys. I found an N60 motor on the MPI website: $9.98 (or so...). It works great but now I have another problem! I was flying today, went through about one battery and the tail motor just gave out or so I thought. I re-initiated the gyro thinking maybe somehow that was the problem when the gyro/esc board started popping and then smoking badly!! I plugged it in later and discovered it was totally fried. I can't imagine the new motor caused this but maybe so? Meanwhile, I have an LED-style low voltage indicator hooked up to the system which is attached to the battery wires. Perhaps this wore the system down? Anyway, does anyone have any ideas about whether or not this was just a cheap board going bad or did I somehow overload the system? I figure I'll buy a "used" Axe on the Tower hobbies scratch and dent site: since I'll have to spend at least 70 bucks I might as well get a bunch of parts with it...Any other ideas about a replacement board? Thanks!!

I have a brand new Blade CP (EFLH1119) tail motor up on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150160772865

While my other Blade CP items have been getting plenty of bids, this item has no bids with only a day to go. At the moment, $2 gets it.

Well, after my e-board fried, I got a GY240 (lucked out by getting it for $80.00 at Northeast Sailplane), put on two speed controls and tried flying my Axe. After about two flights, the main motor fried (I think because my ESC has a brake that you can't turn off...). I had just bought all of the CNC head upgrades available from microheli thinking I'm on easy street. Not so! I really need a brushless tail motor to make this thing fly well and now a new ESC (had a spare 400 lying around....). Anyway, I've decided to cut my losses on this money pit after spending about as much as the whole thing cost in parts and will likely go for an HDX 300 V3. If anyone wants a bunch of spare parts (including Microheli CNC swash, main hub, and blade grips[still in their bag] flown all of three times; plastic main blades, CF tail boom [still in bag from Microheli], and all kinds of other spare parts...) please PM me and we can haggle. I'll provide a complete list of parts as well. By the way, has anyone tried the HDX 300? Does it still have the same problems as the V2? Anyway, thanks!!

Hi Mark,

Are you willing to break up the parts? When your eboard fryed did you go with a new REC as well? My eboard is toast as well. I am just trying to find a cheap way of getting her in the air again.

Thanks
Larry

Larry,

I kept the same receiver as it seemed to work well. Meanwhile, I'm not selling any electronics as I will need them for my next bird: sorry! I would definitely be interested in selling the CNC parts together as they were the most expensive. I'm looking to at least regain some money for those. Thanks for the interest!
