I'm trying to decide what Nitro to buy, and these are what I've decided on.

Money is not really an issue, I just want a good heli.

I was initially looking at a 30V2, and I'll admit the price w/motor was attractive, but I've been hearing some bad things about the power to weight ratio.

Also, whats the deal with the 600 and the Governor, or whatever? Does the 50 Titan need one also?

Can someone give me the big pros and cons on the 50Titan vs 600 N Pro?

Been doing some research, I also just spotted this Stinger 50 from Gohbee, anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks guys.

I guess, looking back on it, money is becoming an issue. I can get basically, an RTR 30V2 anywhere on the web for like 650-800$.

It seems to be around 800$ just to get a 600n w/Motor.

How underpowered are the 30's, really?

The 30 doesn't have much power. Its good for basic flying around, but they are not much fun for 3d. I like the Raptors because they are so cheap to fix. The 600N has great part prices too except for the frame sides. In 3 wrecks I have busted 2 frames on my Titan. 26 bucks for a new frame each time wasn't bad at all, but it was a lot of work to switch it out. Either heli should be a great performer with reasonable crash prices. Both will easily cost over 1000.00 with electronics, more if you need a radio too. A govener is not required, but once the motor is broken in I would use one to keep rotor speed under control. The 50 engine has enough power to overspeed the rotor to dangerous rpms with the wrong throttle curves.

I agree with Funky regarding the Raptor 30 performance.

It flies fine, stock, but just fine. There is not much in the way of power reserve. I have looped and rolled it, but was not terribly comfortable.

Raptor 50 is much, much better. Same basic airframe with much better power to weight ratio.

I have flown a TREX 600 once, for about five minutes, so take this with a grain of salt.

The TREX felt lighter and more nimble than the Raptro 50 and still quit stable.

Raptor is somewhat more stable.

Both fly well.

You might also look into the Knight 50. Also very stable and a very good flying machine. Somewhere in between the TREX 600N and the Raptor.

I would agree that a 50 is the way to go for starters. I started with a 30 and the difference was night and day when I upgraded to my Raptor 50. Initial cost will be slightly higher for a 50, but you are getting much more bang for your buck. With a 30, once you learn to fly pretty well, you are going to start looking to upgrade for more power to learn 3D. With a 50, you will have a hard time outgrowing it...

I have both a Raptor and a T-Rex 600 N Pro. While the Raptor is a great heli and has served me well for almost 5 years, the T-Rex flys sooo much better. The T-Rex kit with the belt drive and G-10 frames is a great deal for the price. Since these things are really popular at the moment, parts availability and pricing is close to, and in some cases, better than the Raptor.

There are a few known issues with the T-Rex, such as the clutch liner and fan, but the Raptor has it's ups and downs as well. The T-Rex is much more maintenance friendly. You don't have to split the frames to replace bearings like on the Raptor, or drop the engine when the starter coupling comes loose from the shaft.

The carbon or G-10 frames, metal tail case and head block, and all the other nice stuff that is standard just make the heli so much nicer than the all-plastic Raptor. The thing that really sold me was that all screws were high quality hex bolts, and most of them screw into metal. No more stripping the cheap plastic frame spacers on the Raptor, or the philips head screws.

You will be happy with either heli, but the T-Rex is the latest and greatest, and I don't think it will dissapoint.

PS> I realize this is the TT forum, so I apologize in advance... ;)

I think that with all of the heli sizes available, the "50" size is really the sweet spot for where performance and stability begins, not to mention they're easier on the wallet when it comes to fuel.

I fly a Trex450 and a Raptor 60. The 60 is incredible with an OS 70 engine, I haven't been able to bog the engine yet with +/- 11deg on the collective and i'm only utilizing 70% of the throttle and this is with wood blades.

If I sell my Trex450 i'm leaning towards getting a Trex 600n.

hi guys..

I have both the raptor and the trex 600 nitro pro, I love my raptor and she does fly very well and is rock solid stable..but I was torn not to long agon if to upgrade my raptor with kasama head, tail and a few other parts, or if to get the trex600n . . after a long think I went with the trex600n pro.

As of yet I have not finished the build so I can not compair them on flight and such, But I was impressed with how it goes together and all the nice little touches, but there are a few things which I didnt like at all The instruction which comes in the kit are no where near as good as the titans, I have had to fit a after market header tank as the main tank is a odd shape and looks like i would suck air.. and another silly little thing which has bugged me is there is no place to mucnt the elec switch..

I dont think you will have to much trouble with either, if it is your first build the the instructions are better on the raptor, the raptor has been around for a long time and have managed to iron out some of the problems. I found my raptor to be very user friendly with clear instruction on all parts of the build and set up..

The trex600n if it is your first build then you must watch bobs video which does help out, the instructions seem more for people who know helis I would not recomend for a first timer.. Also the trex might be a little bit more difficult as it is 120 eCCPM which some people have a bit of trouble with.

To conclude both are nice and both have there pros and cons, the 600n pro is a bit more stylish but a little shabby on the instructions, not to much of a prob if you follow bobs vids. the raptor is a solid dependabl heli which does every thing you ask. you will get more pitch out of the stock trex than you would a stock raptor, so if 3d is your thing you might think about the trex.. I am just glad that I have both..

I am by no means a flying expert but I started off with a TT Raptor 30V2... I am finally to the stage where I am starting to put nose in flight to use. Kinda LOL. But I am noticing where extra power would be nice. Infact this winter I will be upgrading my 30 to a 50. I believe I will be going with the NovaRossi 50... The 30 is a nice trainer, but I really want some more power...

How underpowered are the 30's, really?

It bogs a lot if you throw a stationary flip at it... but for hovering, forward flight, 8s, stall turns and very fast forward flight it really does great
