Dear everybody..
I'm planning on getting a Raptor 50 V2 soonish, and I want to buy a new radio, (i've got a mx12/jr 6102 atm)..
Now my hobbyshop has recently received the Graupner (EU) version of the Dx7, for a very appealing price.
Now my question would be, what should I do? purchase a Ff9 or go for the Dx7? I think the Ff9 looks a bit more luxurious to me.. compared to the dx7.. but then again, the dx7 does have a nice short antenna
Remember; it's for a nitro bird.. with a gov.
Oh and, is the AR7000 actually usable for a nitro bird?

DX7 or X9303 if you need 9 channels. Yes, the AR7000 is fine for any model.

As though your input is very valuable to me, the 9303 is NOT an option..

either or will work great with out problems. The key is you are stating a raptor 50. That will have mechanical mixing on it so the 9C wont be slowing you down. The 9C is stated to be the worst CCPM radio on the market (slowest processing time) The DX7 is almost 3 times faster in that category. Unless you go with a T-Rex 600N (or other ccpm setup) in the future the 9C will do just fine for you, if you plan a ccpm heli get the DX7 no questions asked.
The AR7000 is perfect for the nitro ship

Wow if the 9C is so bad with eCCPM. Wonder how pilots like Eric Larson and couple others flew there 120 deg CCPM models so well. Eric used the 9C for a few years flying his MA 120 deg Extreme before the 14MZ came out. He put on demos everywhere and didn't seem to have any problem.
But he was not using the transmitter as a test on an oscilliscope. He was using it to fly the model. So he didn't know if there was any so called latency issues or not.

Gotta love David's comments....I agree totally...Some statistics are just not necessary...I have a 9C and I like it just fine. I am thinking of going to the Spektrum or getting the 12FG when its available in 2.4(and when I can afford it). I like the 9C just fine but I'm ready to get 2.4 GHZ but I hear there are speed issues when you go 2.4 with a module conversion...Would I notice it? I doubt it..Hope this helps...

Well I am no pro pilot but I could FEEL the difference when i went from my 9C to a 14mz for sure... Not only low latency but 2048 rez just did it for me... Everyone that flew my heli (even JR people) agreed it felt WAY better.
Now I have since also started using a DX7 on some stuff for about 3 months now. In waiting for FASST for my 14mz, I sold my G3 RX's and on my Trex600 I put in the AR7000... I FELT the loss in rez going from G3 to AR7000.
So regardless of using an o-scope you can feel the differences. There is a more connected feel between a 9C to DX7 and more so from either of these to the 14MZ with G3 RX. I am not saying you cant fly well with a 9C but after feeling the difference myself... I wouldn't go back.

What speed issues? I was thinking of getting the 2.4 module and RX as well.

In My mind the cost difference and the fact that the DX7 is 2.4ghz it wins hands down.
Yes the FF9 is a very high quality radio but i think the DX7 is much better value for money
I personally would only consider the FF9 if i was planning a scale helicopter in the very near future.
Even then i would probably be happy to wait for Spektrum to release a DX9
Plus the Fact you are already familiar with JR programming i think the DX7 would be a good choice for you.
Just my two cents

Someone can chime in that knows this for sure, but I read a post about someone that did a latency test on all the radios...The 9C was probably close to being the worst as far as speed...Especially on the 1024 PCM...I don't really know but I think that it has to convert the data you input(stick movements)..Send it to the Reciever, Convert it again and then send inputs to the servos. If I'm not mistaken it slows it down SIGNIFICANTLY having to convert the processed inputs data....Now whether or not I would notice it or not is something to be seen. However, I can notice a BIG difference from a 12Z to my 9C...Its like night and day...
I have not owned a DX7...I will wait to see what futaba comes out with, considering getting the 12FG 2.4, but I just don't have the money now. But if I were going to get a radio today. It would be the DX7 hands down. Rarely if ever do I hear negative things about it. And they've sold TONS of em. Not to mention its nice seeing the pros flying with them...

I say go with the DX7. I am anxiously awaiting Futaba coming out with a fully integrated 2.4Ghz 9-channel radio. Hopefully soon something will come out.
