I have an electric Voyager "E" helicopter and I am trying to get the DSC cord to work with my JR 9303 tramsmitter. When I connect it as to the manuals instructions ( I am useing the Deluxe Switch Harness – JRPA001), I get no response from the helli. Does this have something to do with the UBEC?

Instuctions:-
Direct Servo Control (DSC)
G13
For proper DSC hook-up and operation:1. Leave the transmitter power switch in the Off position. The transmitter will not transmit any radio frequency (RF) in this position.2. Plug the DSC cord (purchased separately, JRPA132) into the DSC port in the rear of the transmitter.3. The encoder section of the transmitter will now be operational and the LCD display will be lit.4. Plug the other end of the DSC Cord into the receiver charge receptacle. (You must use a 3-wire switch harness, such as the Deluxe Switch Harness – JRPA001, or a JR Chargeswitch – JRPA004, for the DSC function to work.) Turn the switch harness to the On position.Note: When you install the charging jack, be sure to hook the charging jack receptacle securely into the switch harness charge cord.

What receiver is in the heli? Is it an FM or PCM receiver?

If the RX is not powered up, DSC won't work.

Is there a way to get around this?

On Futaba when the DSC cord is plugged in the transmitter. The transmitter powers up. Have to turn the receiver power on to have power to work the servos.

You can try plugging the DSC cord into an open port on the receiver and see if it will work when the receiver power is turned on.
I am assuming your asking is there away around in having to turn the power onto the receiver>

Yes I have to unplug the Batt port and plug in the DSC cord there. I will try your idea of connecting to an open port.
