Anyone else have one of these gadgets? Finally got the wifey to tach the 450 and we're getting inconsistent readings-in normal mode rpm is 2110, idle up 2120-although you can tell just by the sound the difference is much larger. The 600 is reading at 2960, which is about 1000 more rpm than what you get with the online calc's.

It is entirely possible the WIFE is defective, not the unit itself.

Do these need to be calibrated before use, and if so how?
Also, just what exactly IS the capacity of the internal battery? The first page of the manual states it's a 4.8v 600ma nicd, the second page says 4.8v 800ma nicd, the last page says 4.8v 270ma nicd, and the unit itself has a sticker that says 4.8v 700ma nimh. :dontknow

Maybe you should do it yourself at least once. I had once a friend reading the HS for me and although I explained him the principle, he was reading incorrectly the tach. Basically he was not manipulating the up and down speed control appropriately (too fast) and not obtaining 2 really steady blades in the window. Result was whatever reading in the 2800 -3000rpms.... :arggg: Could be your problem.

Otherwise would advise borrowing a Flytach from someone else to compare readings. Both work on same principle. I got both and they read the same. I only prefer the Bantam for all its additional features.

The Bantam manual is pretty bad I agree. Korreanglish at is best . I charged with an extra charger I had basis 700mAh. No prob so far and it lasts.

its a 700mah nimh pack in it, lasts for ages even in servo test mode.

2800 is way too much anyway, sounds like its being read wrong!

great tool though, couldnt fly without mine

I love mine, it's one of the best tools I've bought for helicopters. I like its multi-functionality. It seems to do a great job in every mode, too.

Bantam has just updated the Helimaster and we have the latest edition in stock. There were only 2 updates. A larger battery is now being used and the temp reading will display in C and in F. Old ones was just C.
