I had purchased a copy of reflex xtr about 1 month ago i have practiced every day with it for about 2 hours, im at the stage where i can do alot of 3d maneuvers confidently without crashing......After recently purchasing my first nitro heli ( trex 600 nitro pro ) i just couldnt ever see myself doing what i do on reflex.

Can anyone please tell me that they have found reflex to true a likeness or not to flying your real heli in 3d maneuvers

Many thanks

Alex

Depending on the model, its settings and the environmental settings, the Reflex XTR simulator is quite realistic.
The heli in your sim may have an optimal and constant setup and therefore its behavior can differ from what you experience in reality. And while you always fly under the same visibility conditions in your sim, the outside conditions vary and therefore make it more difficult to recognize your heli's position.
But the biggest difference is in your head! It takes a while and a lot of practice until you get rid of some kind of blockade that prevents you from doing all those things you do with your sim.

About 8 months ago I spent a good week of doing nothing but flips in XTR with my T-Rex model. IRL all I was doing up to that point was stall turns and deep loops so I was ready to take the next step but was scared to death to flip and roll the real thing.

Anyway, after probably 8 hours of practicing flips and rolls in XTR, I can now flip and roll all my machines without any issue.

The product paid for itself 10 times over in those 8 hours... I'm certain had I not spent the time on the sim I'd have lost orientation and ended up augering it.

Hope this helps,
Shell

I believe the biggest help a sim can be is the orientation. A sim will help you know what to do without having the oh Sh** factor as much.Happy flying

In fact I trained on nothing but the Reflex and when I took my Raptor 50se to the field for my first flight my son said I hope the sim really works. I started the Raptor and took off and flew around very slow all he could say was I'll be damed. I have the video to prove it.

To be honest I don't think any sim is perfect and the second the bird takes off you will realise it feels kinda different but the stick movements are the same the heli just behaves differently but not in a bad way.

The most important thing is practice till you can do these mad moves in your sleep then you will have no problems the sim gives you that instinctive edge straight away.

The main point of sims is to teach you a natural reaction to an event whether you are doing 3D or just hovering. I learned inverted on the sim and took to it in the real world like a Duck to Water the only problem I found is as JARON has mentioned the head games & your wallet plays on you all that money hovering in front of you somehow prevent you pushing the boundaries that you wouldn't think twice about on the Sim.

I'm currently learning backwards inverted boy is that a hard one :arggg:

Cheers
