View Full Version : Man the freak is so nice.....

You know the last week has made me really appreciate the freak more so than any other forum there is on the net. As many of you likely know there have been several very "hatefull" to a point threads on both RR and RCG about the new Mikado 5003Ds. I myself and a few others that frequent here have been posting in regards to these claims and experiences. I myself admidt I got caught up in several of these heated debates and comments from many users mostly ones who do not even own the heli.

The claims have been against gear stripping etc,,,,, I can honestly say as I have to many through pms; since my first experience I have not been experiencing any issues with my 5003Ds.

I was apointed as a "rep" sometime ago through Mikado. Understand I have owned and flown Mikado helicopters by choice far before that time, and would and will continue regardless of any rep or sponsorship situation. I do not feel that in anyway clouds my comments to people who own or are thinking of owning one of these machines. If you feel it does, you do not know me that simple. I fly the Mikado line because I love how a Logo flies period, if it was a peice of crap or it was crap to fly I would not be here. I have built & flown several high end electric machines and know what flies like what etc... I still choose Mikado stuff as I feel it has a flight characteristic unlike any other heli there is on the market.

If anyone here builds there kit and has issues or questions on the 5003D, gear mesh etc please let me know. If need be I can call and discuss anything you wish on this model. I am not compensated for my phonecalls to anyone either and I do not ask to be.

At this point I am very frustrated by a few trolls in other forums that seem to be taking it beyond a personal level imho, several threads have made there way to being absolutely useless and nothing productive is coming out of them.

Mikado helicopters were what saved me in the hobby imho.. I was going through a very steep learning curve with nitros to the point where failures and mistakes almost broke the bank. Than I got a Swift amongst a few other helicopters that ended up being nightmares and never ending. Under advice of a good friend he told me to try a logo, so I did. That was enough for me to remain in the hobby as I finally had a reliable machine that was very simple in design and best of all it flew the same every flight.

Mikado has got a few bumps to sort these machines to 100%, that has been made clear and has been acknowledged, It pains me to see some people I know who are good people getting upset at some issues they have. To any of you who know me through this forum or others if you have a problem and you feel I might be able to help you please let me know as I would rather see you happy with your Logo than seeing this drama stretch out anymore than it allready has.

I do not have the scoop on what Mikado is or will be doing in regards to those experiencing issues with the gears. Honestly fellas I do not think the vendors and distributors worldwide know either at this point, which is why there has been no "this is what is going on" statements across the boards. Anyone who does or has owned older Logos 10,14,20 knows that any issues that arose with those models were handled, were they not? Anyone who knows history of Mikado knows Ralph does not come onto forums and either defend or announce anything.

Hey if absolutely nothing is said or done with respect to what peoples issues might be, than I am a fool and have not learned anything about Mikado since I have been in the hooby and flown their product which is just over two years ago when I first started.

Anyways appreciate you people at least maintaining the peace, talking to each other like adults and keeping it real.

Shawn i am sure I will have a bunch of questions for you about my new 500 3D soon. I must admit after reading TONS of posts on the other forums I slowed down my build and have been thinking I may hold out and see if Mikado admits that they have a problem and a fix for the heli's that are already out. I was going to have mine ready to fly TODAY but I decided to hold off until next weekend. I know the Herringbone gears are new and I am sure that some guys didn't set their mesh correctly causing them to fail. That isn't Mikado's fault. I did read that they think the problem may be because the motor shaft is flexing causing the stripped gears, if that's the case I am hoping Mikado will either have a fix or can tell us whick motors are going to be a issue. I am sure the 500 is many peoples first Logo, it's my first Logo and I want to make sure I don't have a bad experience with it that isn't related to my flying ;) Here is what I plan on running in my 500, if you have any suggestions or see something I should change let me know.
Z30-1100kv
Castle CC80 ESC
Hercules 5 amp BEC
500mm Carbon Blades
21 tooth pinion
Flightpower 30c 6s3200mah for now
85mm Carbon tail blades
401/9254 gyro
Not sure what servo's yet, was going to run Spektrum DS821's since they fly great in my Hurricane but wasn't sure if I should run better digitals in this heli.
I plan on going to 6s 4500mah packs in the future with 550mm blades.

Freedom of speech is a essential thing IMO.
Sometimes you have to witness or accept some ignorance and short sighted views.
I always try to search for solutions, which is the best thing to do when you get in trouble or when things don't go the way you expected.
Sometimes you have to go through some trouble when you stick out your neck to improve a design that hasn't been touched by others.
Hope the gearing Issue is a smaller one as some people make it appear.

Think your doing a great job here.

I was just at RC groups. It seems they found the problem with the stripped gear in one post at least.

Shawn you gotta be like a duck man-just let it roll off your back. I saw the thread you're referring to and it convinced me RCG is full of 12 year olds. Otherwise know as "stains".

It does amuse me when people whine that a 500 sized heli can't cope with a 600 sized power plant, and then call it a design fault when something lets go!

Shawn, your help and support on the mixer arm orientation problem I reported was very appreciated... ignore the ignorant matey :)

Well, I'm among those without a Logo, but having read all that nonsense am still looking at my budget trying to fit one in. I really didn't see much of substance in all that noise, and don't think it likely that many folks will.

I've gotten a general feeling that I can't trust much of what I read in either of the "over theres", since now I know a little bit, and the signal to anti-signal ratio is pretty high - it's not even just noise quite frequently. I can't find a case where I've been steered wrong here.

I'd also like to take a moment and thank you, Shawn for your info and recommendations on the Jazz ESC and Hercules BEC I now have on my TRex 600. I wouldn't think of any less for my future Logo, so they're in the budget ;) . I sometimes I think I'm the teenager driving the Maserati, but it's hard to complain!

Hey thanks people but honestly was not looking for sympathy. I guess in reading what I wrote at 4am it sure sounds like I was though, lol. None the less as I said myself and others I am certain will do their best to help anyone needing assistance in Qs' for their helis. Enjoy the rest of your weekend if you are lucky enough to have it off :).

Shawn you gotta be like a duck man-just let it roll off your back. I saw the thread you're referring to and it convinced me RCG is full of 12 year olds. Otherwise know as "stains".

I've known that for years, lots of useless info and constaint backstabbing from people who obviously know nothing. I only go there now and then when in need of a good laugh.

Shawn, your info has laways been helpfull and appreiciated and keep it up mate.

Cant wait for this 600 to arrive, my 14's constaintly getting freaked hard week after week and it wants someone to share the workload with

Well lots of good points there, but I will just add my voice to say;

Shawn, you do a great job and your help is appreciated by everybody on this forum.

HF is a great forum, there seems to be a lot less trolling and personal attacks on this forum than on others.

I should be receiving my 5003d in the next week or two, but the way I read it, it sounds like a great heli. OK, not perfect, but when you remember that 15 years ago helis cost about 3 times as much in today's dollars, I'm ready to make a couple of adjustments to make it sensational (read; metal motor mount, and hopefully that's it).

I get the impression too that there is a large number of satisfied logo flyers out there, who are maybe having too much fun flying their machines to spend time getting into forum wars, so perhaps you hear a greater number of posts from the whiners.

Keep up the great work,

Ant

Shawn, you are a straight shooter man, and I definitely believe you 100%. You have to try not to let it get to you.

Thanks for all your advice and help with my Logo's. You RULE man!! :noteworthy:hug:

Shawn, I completely agree with you. I've come to the conclusion that it's easier to just ignore most of the trolling and only read posts by people whose respect has been earned.

Group HUG !!!! Ive been looking for reasons not to buy the 5003D but i'am running out. Ive only been doing his heli thing for less then a year but i've found that most ppl are quick to blame everything but them self for problems. No heli is perfect off the get go but that doesn't make the whole kit a POS.
