Hi All,

I hope that some one here can help me out.

I will start out by telling you what I have:

TX - Futaba 6EXHP

Gyro - GY401

Heli - 2 x Twister 3d (First one UnBling. second Bling)

Twister 1 = 3 x Hitec HS55 - Tail 1 x JP engerg S7.5 (Not digital) RX - Futaba R136F

Twister 2 = 3 x Hitec HS65HB - Tail 1 x Supertec Digital TITCH-50 RX Futaba R156F

Thats the hard part now down to the problem that I have.

Twister 1 was bought second hand from my local model shop this model was made and owned by the father of the owner of the shop, it came complete I had to buy my own gyro so I bought the GY401 as I was told it is one of the best around.

Twister 2 was also bought second hand from the same shop this model was owned by the owner of the shop this was also made up my him.

The reason why I bought the second twister was that I wanted to bling my one up and the owner said his was for sale, complete again just needing a gyro, so I bought it.

Now this is where it get a bit complicated. The owner said just take out the gyro from my first twister and put in into the second one and all that needed doing was to flick the dip switch to digital servo mode and he should work ok.

I did what he said but now the gyro will not turn off when I flick the switch on the TX from normal mode to head hold mode so that I can get the gyro to remember its new servo settings.

On the twister 1, I could flick the switch on the TX and the LED would turn on and off as per the instructions. On the new Twister when I flick the switch the light stays on and when I move the rudder arm on the TX i get a double flash from the LED. The manual states that this is due to the rudder signal from the TX in the AVCS mode is different from the neutral signal memorized in the gyro.

How do I clear its memory so that i can re-calibrate the gyro again for my new heli.

Hope that someone out there can give me a little help.

Cheers,

I doesn't sound like you have the gyro setup for Normal mode in the transmitter. The instructions are on page 17 in your 6EXH manual. If you don't have the manual, it can be downloaded at http://www.futaba-rc.com/manuals/index.html

If that doesn't work, post again and we will try again.

Hi Cliff,

Thanks for the advice.

I have done what it says on page 17 of the TX manual and followed its instructions.

Firstly it says set the EPA on channel 5 to 100% both ways but when I move the arm on the Tx the arrow on the display does not change like it did with the other channels.

Also when I now put power to the heli the Following happens:

Switch on with HH switch down (HH ON) there is now a flashing led light (Gyro manual say about this - Displayed when there are no rudder operation signal being input from the transmitter. At this time, the servo rudder servo does not operate)

When I moved the rudder arm on the Tx with HH on, the following happens.

Flashing led, servo moves left to right and centres back when let go of the arm.

When I turn the HH off (Switch Up) the led light stays on and is still flashing, but this time when I move the rubber arm the servo stays at the point where I left it and I have to move the arm to get the servo to centre again.

Hope that this is of help and any more advice would be greatly appriciated.

(At least I have a flashing led now so something has happend as before it was a constantly on)

Cheers,

When you switch the gyro switch mode do you see a + value in one direction and - value in the other? If not, you need to change the value up or down to get the correct polarity(+-). Positive numbers are AVCS (HH) mode and negative numbers are Normal (rate) mode. You should have a steady light on for AVCS mode until you give rudder input.

Cliff,

Many thanks for the help in sorting out this little problem.

I did what you said and changed around the + - values so that HH was a + and - was for normal flight.

I plug the battery in and now when I flick the switch the LED goes out.

Just got to rebuild the rest up as when I tested it before it jumped around the floor and broke a number of parts.

Do you know much about the Helicopter (J Perkins, Twister 3D). if so is there any good upgrades parts for this that I can get in the states.

Once again many thanks for the help.

Cheers,

I'm glad I could be of help. As for the heli, I have absolutely no experience with that model so I can't offer any information on it.
