Hi guys,

I am just about to charge my first 22.2V lipo. I have been using 3S for my 450 and have never had a battery of this capacity before. I just wanted to clarify something before I begin charging her.

I can charge this battery at 1C right? Which would be 5amps max!!! I usually charge mine lower than 1C but I just wanted to double check that 1C was actually 5amps.

Also I have read a little about break in of batteries. Is this necessary?

Thanks

Here is the general rule I go by for my own packs.

Cut your timer to roughly 1/2 your normal flying time for the first 5 flights or so then gradually work up to your normal time. 5A is 1C if that is a 5000 pack. Be careful and keep an eye on temps and your timer. The pack will take a few (probably as many as 10+) flights to develop max power.

Cool thanks for the help, so you are saying that for my first initial flights I should fly half the normal time. So lets say that I usually get say 5mins per pack normal flight time. For the first few flights you suggest I should fly 2 and a half minutes and ease my way to the 5 minute mark. Is that right?

Yes it is a 5000mah pack so 5 amps is 1C.

When you say be careful of temps do you mean while Im flying or while it is cjharging or both?

Yes, fly about 1/2 the time for the first 3-5 flights then gradually increase the time, but only a little at a time until you can get to your normal flight time.

Hi again,

Now that I have your advice I am unable to charge my lipo.
I have an e-station BC8 and am unable to charge my battery. I have bought the following adapter so I can balance my lipos and I have connected it up as the manual discribes but the battery does not charge. I get an error saying battery voltage cell high which indicate that one of the cells is too high and I need to check each cell individually. This is a brand new battery by the way.

I need some help please

Never mind I found the culprit. The adapter was faulty.

Thanks anyways.
