I took some pictures this past IRCHA on Sunday afternoon to make the G3 field for the IRCHA Jamboree field so I could sim with the G3 at the IRCHA field. I put it together at the hotel that Sunday night but I forgot to share it so here it is.

You can get the file for installation here (http://www.augustoheli.com/ForumsRelated/G3/IRCHA/IRCHAsunday.zip).

1) Download into the desktop and Unzip the file.

3) Start G3 in the Sod Farm airport.

4) Select Simulation -> Import -> Raw Panoramic image

5) click open and select the desktop and then the folder you unzipped the files into called "IRCHAsunday" then select the file named "IRCHAsunday.jpg"and click open. Wait until the program loads the new panoramic and after it's finished exit G3.

6) Go to "C:\Program Files\RealFlightG3\Airports" also open the folder where the files were unzipped on the desktop and copy the files "IRCHAsunday.airportG3" and "IRCHAsunday.objectsG3" from the unzipped files folder and replace the same files into the "C:\Program Files\RealFlightG3\Airports" folder and answer "Yes" to the replacing the files dialog.

Restart Realflight G3 and enjoy.

Note: If done correctly and still you can fly through objects that means they are off.
To turn them on go to:

View-> Show -> Scenery objets.

Field looks nice but I can't seem to figure out how to do step 6 and my field has no limits or objects.

My C:\programfiles\realflight\airports folder is empty save for a "photofields" folder, which is also empty. I tried putting those two files in each of those locations and nothing changed. It doesn't affect the flying but I'd like the objects to work.

Mabey I'm doing something wrong? I'm running Vista if that matters.

Vista should not be the problem. I have Vista on my laptop and the new field installed without a problem. I don't remember what else was in the Airports folder though. Do you have the latest 3.5 upgrade to RF?

Are you able to fly into objects, like a wind sock pole, on the fields that you create yourself?

I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure I do. All I know is the /airports and /photofields folder under that were both empty when I looked at them and placing the files in there didn't do anything to the field.

Actually the objects in the IRCHA field are active. Like the speakers or the orange cone by the pilot or the tents they are all active. You will crash if you try yo fly into them.

Well for now I can fly right through them. I still need to check my RF version to see if updates are possibly needed.

I'm fairly confident I'm putting the files in the right place but there's nothing I can see in my /airports or /airports/photofields folders. I know the field panoramic imported because I can fly in it but I don't know where RF put it. The same can be said for the helis I've imported as I don't know what RF did with those files either (which is why I keep the originals).

Nice field Augusto, thanks. I thought I followed the directions but I messed up step 6 somehow and had no objects. Fsusmithc2, make sure you manually copy the files mentioned in step 6 from the zip file into the ...\Airports folder. The import function should have created a ...\Airports\PhotoFields\IRCHAsunday folder and placed sereral files in there.

I did.

It didn't.

I'll make a point to check my RF ver tomorrow as it's way too late to mess around with that now. The field does look pretty sweet though. It feels more real than any of the other photofields. Now if only I could crash into stuff. ;)

If the files are not in the folder, then they did not copy correctly. That would not be an issue with the version. Try copying the files again and make sure that they are there and it should work.

Augusto, would you be able to do quick tutorial on how you made this photofield? I'd like to try it but have some questions. Please let me know if you have time or if you could point me in the right direction to find the info.

Thanks,

-Chris

Thanks for sharing to files. They work great for me on both my Vista Computers. I really enjoy flying the field since I never got to while I was there all week. Stop by my canopy. It's the empty one off to the right closest to the flight line. We'll chat.

Thanks again for the great field

I have a copy, but it's 5MB (too large to upload here). PM me if you'd like me to email it to you (or I can put it up on my server to download...).

I'd really like to have a G4 version, right now I'm just using the panorama image. I'm not savy enough to create a proper field...:o
