i have seen this done. it works fine the owner of my LHS did it and it looks good, but we havent had a chance to torture test it yet. although it is a good idea, this way in a crash the goop might comeoff instead of having the braket or stand off break your frames.

I wouldn't risk it. If the tank came loose and fell off while you were inverted (or even upright) you'd have a disaster on your hands.

Just get the stock raptor header tank. It comes with a bracket and bolts right to the aft hole that is used to hold the tail bellcrank bracket. Took about 2 minutes and works great without any modifications!

Ok I will put an order in for one , the stock raptor one does the trick you say...

looking good.. have you made a stand off for the holder to attach to .

Just use a 20mm or 1 inch long tapped 3mm threaded hex spacer from any electronics store and drill a hole about 1 inch back from the middle bearing-block through your frame.

I have mine connected to the main tank with 3M double sided tape. I used brake cleaner to clean both surfaces and cut the tape the size of the header tank. I have had it this way for about 40~45 tanks and it holds well with no sign of coming loose. To add to this I just burned her in this weekend... pretty vilent crash too. On impact the main tank with header tank came out of the frames and intact. Surprisingly the frames survied with no damage. Got her back in the air that afternoon and all is good again.

However you put the header tank on the bird be sure it is secure and add that to your pre-flight check list and you should be good.

I used a hex engine shroud joint that was spare in my kit, you could use a canopy stand off from a raptor or Evo as well.

Are you talking about one of the plastic hex bolts like also found in the boom case or something else? Did you trim it down or leave it as is? Can you post a pic or two of your install? I think I can do it but screwing in from the inside to secure the stand-off seems like it'll be tough. Getting the grommet in the bracket hole seems like it's going to be a pain too. I gave it a few attempts but haven't succeeded yet.

I have just mounted my header , using a hex post which came spare I drilled a little hole and fixed it from the inside using a self tapper and some CA, I then attached the header tank so it clears the fuel tank also with a self tapper and CA. ...

If I have a crash the stand off is weak enough to brake without damage to the frame, but is solid enough for every day...

This way it looks good and does the job.. will try and post a photo after work tomor..

Yes the plastic hex bolts, I put the header tank against the main tank and cut the hex bolt to make it a snug fit. Drilled the frame.

I then put a spare enging muffler bolt through the lot and secured it on the inside of the fram with washer nylo nut.

Sounds good to me. I'll just have to find a "spare" muffler bolt and nut somewhere. Either that or do the method aevans posted. Either way, it's going to suck getting in behind the frame.

hi guys..

Getting behind the frame was not to bad just have to pull the tank, think this works well..

Remove your tank and you can get behind the frame no problem, twist the header tank around so its upside down so you can get the tank in after and then use long nose to tighten the nut up snug.
