Hello LOGO 500 pilots:

Thank you for your support of Mikado Helicopters. This is in response to several questions and comments on LOGO 500. We’ve become aware of difficulties setting up the Herring Bone gears especially on High Power systems. To aid in achieving the correct gear mesh of the Herring Bone pinion we are including the aluminium motor plate as the standard in the LOGO 500 3D kit.

For those of you who have already purchased a LOGO 500 3D, please contact Aero-Model, Inc. ( 480) 726-7519 and they will supply it to you at no cost. These aluminium motor mounts are available for immediate shipment from Aero-Model in Tempe, Az.

The issue with stripping gears arises typically with outrunner type motors. Under high torque they are not as stiff as other motors and their axes can twist, which has a negative effect on the gear mesh.
We’re not guessing this. Rather we performed a study on our gear test stand to determine the cause for the gears stripping. It showed clearly that the motor shaft is sliding/twisting with outrunner type designs. The aluminium motor plate helps avoiding this to some degree. In addition it makes the correct adjustment of the Herring Bone gears more precise.

For extreme 3D flying (+2000 watts), the aluminium motor plate must be used with the Mod. .7 gear. This will double the power transmission capacity of the Herring Bone gear train. We have thus decided to include both main gears in the LOGO 500 3D kit from now on, i.e. Mod. .5 and Mod. .7 - so it will be the customer’s decision which one he wants to use depending on gearing and motor choice.

The Logo 500/600 itself is engineered for high power. Strictly speaking, it’s the motor design that can be cause for concern, and not the Heli. Combining the properties of the aluminium motor mount and the Mod. 7 gear, Very Hard 3D flying is no problem. Please also take care to set the gear mesh correctly.

If you compare the new LOGO generation to other electric helis in the market, you will see that it is clearly a superior helicopter in many ways. Please understand that it is difficult to cover all eventualities in advance with a truly innovative product.

Thank You for your continued support of the Mikado line of model helicopters.

Best regards
Ralf

What about international users, I guess we'll contact our respective distributors...

Ralf, I have to echo FlyPilot here... where's the contact details for the European customers to get the upgrade from?

Do I contact the agent that I bought my heli from for the motor mount upgrade? I bought mine in the UK. Can we also get a MOD 7 main gear?

Interestingly no direct response from Ralf regarding European replacement parts, either here or RC Groups. Furthermore, an email to Revolution Models (the UK distributor) asking if they're supplying free metal mounts/gears has been ignored to date despite them supplying my kit.

At the moment, Europe are being treated as a poor cousin compared to the USA... ironic considering the origins of the helicopter. With this complete disregard to European replacement parts, I'd suggest all non-USA potential customers seriously consider their purchase. I for one am extremely disgruntled with the way this has been dealt with...

I guess i have to wait a couple of months to make sure all the euro e-store stocks are up to date with the new mount and extra gear before i get my 500.
oh well, always good to wait a bit with new helis, maybe it get some more updates before i get one.

Ralf i just recieved my new kit, and there was no alloy motor mount at all. I have sent you a pm about this before as i was very sure i wouldnt get a alloy motor mount in my kit, as the seller told me so.

So why don't you answer people who buy these kit's in europe ??? don't we deserve that alloy motor mount to ?? and solve the things you said you would in the first post in this thread ???

As i said before, i sure hope Mikado treat everyone who buy's this kit the same all over, and not just in the US.

And there are also only one main gear, and what i understand there should be two in these new kit's (mod 05 and 07) ?

I got a responce to my email from Revolution Models who are the UK distributor. They knew nothing of the motor mount upgrade, but said they would look into it!

Clearly, since the UK distributor doesn't know, it would suggest that this upgrade was only intended to keep the USA market happy... Mikado's home customers don't count for ****.

Not at all impressed to be honest, and may well have to start a Euro boycott thread just to get the same level of customer service received in the USA.

In the meantime, Euro customers don't buy unless your supplier can guarantee that mount!

Guys, please give Ralf and Mikado a chance to make you happy. Rome was not built in a day. I am 100% sure they will make good.

Well, I asked Real Raptors in the UK, and got a very quick reply that the kits they had where with the 0.5 and 0.7 mod main gear, and the aluminum motor mount. So there is hope for Europe as well! At least I know where I will go when I have the money...

To be fair to Revolution they aren't the UK Distributor anymore, it's now Flighttech (Flightpower). I've sent them an email today so I'll await their reply.

Steve, could you send me a pm with their contact, name and email etc ? When you know if they will help and send us that free alloy motor mount and 0.7mod main gear.

I thought that Revolutionmodels where the UK Dist... anyways, i hope Flighttech will help us out with this.

This is really silly, most brands even the very basic models have those alloy motor mount's standrad, so Mikado should have thought about this from very beginning, atleast when comming out with a hooped up new design that are made for extreme 3D. I really don't understand how they think sometimes.

Mikado, this would be a good time to reply to this thread and solve this, and not just tell buyers in the US where to get their free stuff, then not a word to help the rest of us.
Im patient, but we cant wait forever Mikado. We do need atleast those alloy motor mount's, so try to fix this and make us all happy, ok ?

all of the latest 3D kits come with the metal motor mount and M05 and M07 gears.

Not that i noticed, i got mine on friday 21st september 2007, ant there was NO alloy motor mount, NO m07 main gear. And i got it from a large dist in the UK.

Wonder if Flighttech will help us out with the free upgrades that Mikado promise, as they seam not to be in the newest kit's out just now anyways, will they do that ?
