Hi all,
I have Phoenix 1.04.i (latest) and the following PC setup
3.x Ghz PC, 1Gb Ram, 8Mb ADSL internet c onnection
When running Phoenix I do not generally run any other apps etc.
But when I either host or join internet Phoeninx sessions, after a short while I often get dropped or if people join a session I am hosting the session gets dropped.
Are others experiencing similar issues?
Are there any tips out there for improving internet connectivity within Phoenix?
Thanks for any advice
J

I'm running the lowest level DSL connection available, it's like 128 mbps, I can connect and fly almost glitch free with 2 others, any more it starts lagging, but I've never been dropped.
I've never been able to host, it says its connected , but I will fly for an hour with no one joining in, or maybe no one likes me :(
Also its very rare that anyone is flying in the US, makes me think I'm the only user here.

Thanks for the response Rick.
If I could stay connected long enough I'd join your session :)
I think it must be something to do with my setup rather than with the product.
Thanks again

I have the same problem Rick. I ran across this thread trying to find a solution to my hosting problem.

Have any of you contacted Pheonix?
They would be the ones to ask about difficulties.

I figured out why I couldn’t host a session.
Short version: Get a decent router!!!
Long winded version:
It has been ages since the last post but I figure a solution is worth posting. My problem all boiled down to a cheap router. I originally had a D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G router which was purchased for the sole purpose of letting me and the wife sit on the couch and surf the net with our laptops. I later added broadband telephone service, then Phoenix Sim came along. I had forwarded all the ports in every manor I could conceive but could not host a session.
Then it dawned on me that I was running everything through the cheapest router I could find. The broadband telephone service kept dropping calls and I could never host a session with Phoenix. After an extreme Homer D’oh moment I ran to the store and picked up the most expensive router they had which at the time was a Netgear RangeMax Duo Wireless-N Router. It wasn’t that much money considering the fact that my telephone service depended on it and the telephone service is only $18 a month.
I hooked up the new router, forwarded the ports for Phoenix and had people joining my session in less than two minutes. After playing for a while I hooked up my telephone. First things first. :)
