I picked up a Knight 3D yesterday (I have been flying a Knight 50 Pro for about a year), along with a Futaba 611 gyro and three JR 8717 servos.

I did not purchase a reciever battery yet. I have converted my Knight Pro and Raptor 50 to Duralite batteries and regulators (4300 mah 2S 2P and 5.3 volt regulator) and am wondering if this is the correct combination for the 3D.

I understand that the 8717's draw quite a bit more current. I also saw, in the instructions for the Futaba gyro, that it can run at six volts (is this true).

Radio will be a JR 10X with Spektrum Module and AR9000.

I do plan on doing 3D with the machine, so I anticipate drawing a lot of current.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance

The gyro will run at 6v, I'd run a stepdown to the servo.

And just for fun, the reports are that the 8717s run fine on 2S lipo direct (8.4 volts) for massive torque and speed. :)

2s lipo 8.4 v??
Check that-2x3.7v=7.4---where's the extra volt?

3.7 volts nominal, when each cell is fully charged it reaches 4.2 volts x 2 cells you get 8.4 volts.

To get a true 8.4 volts that will maintain thru the flight you will need 3s Lipo with a regulator-a switching reg is best, considering that the volts go down rather quiclky to the 3.7 nominal.Alan Szabo uses this setup--
