Hallo,

the European DX7 version is limited to 100mW transmitting power and only for indoor flying

Any idea how to modify to get the 300mW of the US Version?
Is there a simple way like a potentiometer to change the transmitting power?

Hope some electronic freaks are out there!

Thanks

Lower output than US, yes. Only for indoor, No. This is a full range transmitter adapted for European radio/frequenzy legislation go ahead and use it as far as your eyes can see.

@ T5

...ther german manual and a German Graupner technician say "only for indoor use", max. range 100m!!!!!

What I know is the transmitting power of the US Version 3 times more than the German (European) Version!

So how do they limit the transmitting power?

This is wierd...the manual says so??? ...and you are talking about the DX7, not the DX6 right?
II read a test some swedish importer had made and range checked the DX7E to 950metres... which would be far enough.
...I have a US version so I can't make you any benchmarks myself, but I'm pretty sure the DX7E is good enough to fly anything up to a distance of a kilometre.
If in doubt, order one from US :o)

Actually where does it say the U.S. version has 300 mW? I cannot find that info on the Spektrum website.

The 2712E version (mark the "E") has a lower output, due to different legislation. It is still however a full range system. There has been a lot of discussions in Sweden regarding this. There's an actual field test done by Procar Sweden.
The "E"-version DX7 has an maximum range of 950 meters.
The US version DX7 has a range of 1600+ meters.
The JR PCM9xII has a range of 1200 meters.

The reciever used was an AR7000.

According to users of one of the largest RC German forums (rcline.de) , the DX7 EU, which is distributed by Graupner, transmits at 10mw. Here's a biggish thread about discussion on the power limit (Need to know German):

The thread at Runryder http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t364282p1/ states 100mw which I find hard to believe as the legislation in Europe for DSSS is 10mw/MHZ .
Are there different EU versions of the EU DX7 or is it only Graupner's version?

Having an interest in this subject as I live overseas but will return to the uk. (I am looking at a Spektrum DX 7 but cannot get a European unit).

I have been conversing with Spektrum and it appears that the U.S. unit emits an "average" of 100mw. E.U. (bless em) require a "maximum" of 100mw. All other aspects of the units being the same.

There is a silver lining though as said through other threads on other sites the DX7 can be de-tuned by software and Horizon UK will do this at a very reasonable cost as they have told me.

What is reasonable cost? I recall reading USD 100 somewhere.

I wonder whether they will include a proper Declaration of Conformity when returning the detuned radio? http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/rtte/faq.htm#informing

Less than £20 they said. Regarding CE sticker shouldnt be a problem I would have thought as everything else is the same. Another way round it is to prove to your insurer that the TX conforms.
