Just starting new thread to survey the toughness and what nots on Hurricane EP550.

Mine is stock light combo, wood blades, 850KV motor, gaui ESC, 2 packs 3S1P Aplus battery 2200mah 25C, gaui BEC..Oh one more thing, I'm beginner only in Heli, just hover and fly around the feild, no 3D yet)

Till today (about 50 days ago i bought the hurricane), I logged in exactly 90 flights.. (had 2 minor crash due to misorientation, with just replacement of wood blade and main shaft)

How about yours, how many flights so far

thanks

had mine for about 2,1/2 weeks an 3 hours airtime still no wear and still flying. had one incident with powercut så the hwli went SMACK down to earth.....:( fortunatly only the skidset and my revco gearrs went to hell but other than that, all was ok.
impressive given the hight was about 15 meters up in the air.went down like a tonn of bricks.

by the way anybody who want to donate me some revco gears???

Well, my first plastic Hurricane has about 300 flights, and are now heading for a Agusta 109A Coast Guard scale body. My second Carbon Hurricane is closing in at 76 flights.

Both are using Z-power Z30 motors. My Carbon uses a Gaui 75A esc, the other a Gaui 50A ESC.
I´m running them on 5S 4000mA, 6S 2350mA, 6S 3200mA, and 7S A123.
Both are running on the Gaui "OK" gears, and I have had NO, NONE problems.

This is the cheapest helis I have ever had, and the most problem free as well.

Tom,

On the Z-power motor with 6S 2350mA, how much flight time at what headspeed do you get?

Ron

i would guess about 3,5-4 min.

Tom Viper, well used your hurricane. I can feel you enjoy it very much.

Mine, with the stock motor, stock esc, plastic light combo, running 5.5 minutes now each flight. Use to run it up to 8 minutes, but LIPO got hot, so set my timer to sound at 5 minutes and took me another 30 second or less to take it down..

Training for AP application, just hovering, and adding weight testing for strapping camera later on.

thanks

Mine about 3 weeks with all stock setup, clocked about 15 flights.

So far very happy with this bird.

Had 22nd flight of circuits slow rolls flips and loops today running pretty much stock setup with exception of the 'mods' Finless BoB suggests in his video OH and I cut 25mm off the 525mm blades with my bandsaw to...I. Have the 'OK' gears they are still as new...I run standard 50amp ESC and Gaui external BEC that came in my RTF kit (http://www.rc-expert.com/product.php?pid=218) along with a few sets of no name brand 20c 2200mah packs from eBay (get ~6 minute flight times) Only damage i have done thus far is getting the tail fin caught in the spokes of my damn wheelchair and breaking the thing off while carrying heli back to my garage grrrrr ;-S promptly made a replacement from 1mm aluminum :-) Aside from that Im extremely happy having paid $AU700 bucks (delivered) for everything and flying daily IMO a much better way to get into the hobby than a smaller heli...

I have started saving/buying for CNC upgrades & shortened boom so I will eventually have her fully binged 550... complete un-necessary but hey, tizz a hobby after all dont need to make alot of sense does it hehe ;-P

I'm up into the low 20s with my HV Hurri. Flight time is 5 - 6 minutes of whatever I can throw at it with a 2360(ish) headspeed. This is running 10S (2x5S 2300s). I'm being pretty brutal with it - lots of big loops and funnels etc. which are high power manouvers so I think 6 mins 30 would be easy for basic sport flying (even 7 mins plus) but I just enjoy throwing it around.. and if I want to sport fly I'll drop the HS and get 7 or 8 mins.

It's lively ... climbout is very fast and relentless (it just does not bog and keeps going) - and also a bit deceptive as it makes very little sound, well the sound does not change when climbing FAST.. This is with +/- 11 or so pitch.. thinking I might eeek a bit more out of the pitch range and see what it does to the climbout ;)

I'm still getting the timing 'down' for 3D stuff as it feels very different to the (twitchy) Trex 450 derived helis I have... more stable and precise. I though it was 'slower' to begin with, maybe some things are, but it does actually fly like a nicely set up 450. I did upgrade to a raptor 30 flybar to increase cyclic and I will move the cyclic servos to 6v when the stepdown for the tail servo arrives.

All in all I'm really happy with this heli and they way it has turned out.

What motor/ESC/gearing are you running with a 10s setup ?

I'm up to about 10 or 12 flights now - using 2 x 2200 25C lipos (Kong Power and A-Plus) currently setting 6 minutes on the timer and putting about 1500 - 1600 mAH back in.

Mike.

z30 800Kv, Jazz 55-10-32, Revco 61/68/18t Jazz throttle curve is set down at 65% or HS climbs past 2500 if I use mid 70%.... Gotta track down a 17t mod 0.6 pinion at some stage.
