From the start, stock GAUI blades were a bit off with that foil covered surface. On some places loose, on other starting to peal off. Hitting a large size bug would help there. I decided to peal the foil off and paint it myself.

I sanded the blades to fine surface, covered the blades in acrylic varnish and repeated that a few times.

I got something like that:

Red / white combination looks great on a sunny day, you can't see any colour on blades on a grey day anyway.

I got to the point where i can say, strip the blades!

I made a simple test. Spinning the blades in governor mode at 1700 rpm, at -5° collective for 5 minutes sharp. I recharged the pack with 10% difference. At my flight times that's almost a minute and a half longer flight. Presto, less power consumption and quieter blades.

Hey man!! Looks real great! About the Red/White: I wanted to do the same but only two strips at the tips and on the Tail as well. I have some White Carbon Blades 515mm and White Tail Blades. So you totally inspired me to do It some time soon! My be post some pics. Only thing is my Canopy is still Red Grey and Whit and not as well painted as Yours!!!

Good Job

Thank you! You should really try that. With white blades you are almost there :YeaBaby:

If you want the blades to be seen wou have to combine black, red and white. As you can see i have black underside of the blades, and it's not visible at all. That yellow tip is also unvisible unless the sun shines at it. Fluorescent is my next step.

I did a little experiment a while ago. I painted white and black stripes on one blade starting with white, and on the other blade starting with black stripe. Talk about hypnosis...

Canopy was really easy to do. Take two different fluorescent colours and some masking tape and a little patience. It can be done in one signle day.
