Just curious. Here in Japan it's pronounced "Scuddy", like "Scuzzy" with a D...

However everytime I look at it written, my mind says Ski-doo!

I suppose "Scuddy" could be correct as the big fug'n book of words describes "scud" as "to move swiftly" (it also mentions something about a missle...).

But when I think of Ski-doo I always wonder if it should only be flown in the winter!

I'm so confused.

Bugger me... Wiki... what a tool!

It comes from Germanic mythology and is pronounced 'scuddy' or thereabouts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skadi

Also Freya is in there as well.

Or did everyone besides me already know all of this? lol

Everyone around here say Ska doo (kind of like the snowmobile SkiDoo)

Tell 'em they're wrong! ;)

Of course when they hear it's really pronounced "Skuddy", they'll probably continue to call it Ska doo...

Ooops, yes correct. My wiki skills are lacking, I got to that page from a link on the Germanic mythology...

Now as a Dane, how do you pronounce it?

They made their name on the Shuttle, guess they figured after that everyone would buy their stuff no matter what they called it!

Seriously though, Hirobo is a strange company. Apparently started out as a hobby of the not so poor president and his buddies. They like to cater to doctors, lawyers and coporate execs and never really cared about the regular masses. Seems they are feeling the pinch now that helis have taken off and they have lots of competition. At a recent event I could barely get the time of day at the Hirobo booth while elsewhere people were very friendly.

I'll still fly them as parts are really easy to get (the factory is in Hiroshima Prefecture), but I sure as heck don't fit the profile of their ideal customer...

Well.... I have no clue either LOL

The nordic name would be Skadi, witch i can pronounce... Sceadu is the english translation.

To use my danish letters to descibe my penouncination of Sceadu would be skøvdu.

Hahaha!

Well, I'm glad I wasn't the only one scratching my head over this. Oh and skøvdu... I'd probably bite my tongue trying to pronounce that!
