Is anyone using this type of battery
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMUV9&P=0#accneeded
It seems to be a safer type than the lithuim polymer type and similar to the A123 cells people are building
Anyone out there have info on these

I don't see where they are any different that Lipos. Same max voltage, same max discharge voltage, same warning about overcharging and catching fire:

Do not allow Lithium cells to overheat at any time. Cells which reach
greater than 140° Fahrenheit (60C) will usually become damaged and
could catch fire.
Do not charge or discharge Lithium cells on or near combustible
materials including paper, plastic, carpets, vinyl, leather, wood,
inside an R/C model or full size automobile.

And they seem to be pretty heavy.

They are saying that hese formaulations do not explode like a lithium polymer pack
http://www.pfmdistribution.com/Apogee_Puncture_Test.wmv
drilled thru and no major fire just smoldered for a few minutes
The disclaimer on the Tower site is the same for all lithium packs seems to be a standard warning.
Also they can be charged at a 2C rate

I run the Apogee 2200 44A (20C) Li-Mn (Lithium Manganese) Batteries , and love them. I also prefer the Apogee quick disconnect plug, vs the standard white plug other batteries use. This plug comes pre-installed on all their batteries.

I purchased them directly via http://pfmdistribution.com, or http://apogeepacks.com

I have never had an issue while charging, or use of the packs.

What kind of charger are you using. I have a tp1010 with a t205 balancer will the apogee wires connect to the balancer if you know I sent a e=mail to pfm distribution for info to what adaptor needed but no response yet.

I use CellPro 4s, with an apogee adapter. The CellPro is a 4AMP charger with balancer built in (all in one small little package). It was recommend by the local Heli field Pros. I love it as well, due to the small size, and it charges and balances an Apogee Pack in about 30 minutes.

Here is the link to the CellPro Charger and Apogee adapter.

I also like how the new CellPro 4AMP charger has the new bannana plug terminals (that remove from the car battery clips), so I can plug them directly into my 12Volt power supply. It makes charging at home, and at the field a lot more easy! The older models did not have this feature. See the picture.
