View Full Version : pimping out my CX

Got a little bored this week so I went online and ordered all the Bling I could find for my CX. Nice blue anodized alunimum parts top to bottom , carbon fibre tail boom , those wings that fold back. and a new clear plastic front skin, Oh yeah.

One question. Is there anything I can get to help me fly better outside in a wind. I never regretted living beside the river until I saw my first (beloved) CX get taken by the wind and go to a deep and watery grave.

the tail boom will help it in the wind, and there are some better motors out there made by slickzero I think that will help too

The Ball bearing Motors will help, You can get then at www.Boomtownhobbies.com, and another thing that will help is the shaft extensions from Helihobby. Plus if you move your Push rods to the second hole on your Servo arms it will help also. We fly in about 5 to 7 knot winds with no problems. But watch out going down wind they will really scoot and you really have to anticipate your turns.

Add weight, its really the only thing that will help. the CX2 weight about 8 ounces and any wind is going to easily push it around.

I have to say that I have all of the "bling" on my CX2 except for the Xtreme Core and I am very satisfied with my Heli! I flew it outside tonight on a (finally) calm night and I was surprised at how well it flew. I even got it up about 50 ft or so and the wind tried to take it, but I would not let it! It was a blast!

We really love flying ours outside, but after we get done we have to blow all the sand and dirt off and out of it. We fly ours without the canopy, it helps keep the heat down.

My canopy is ventilated, plus I have the heat sink on the X180 motors and I find that everything stays pretty cool in there.

Thanks for all the tips and comments. I am going to order those new moters with the ball bearing you spoke about . I have installed all my other "bling" and love the look. I am trying out the server arm positions and currently have it on the second outside hole but don't like the "touch". It goes like a bat out of hell forward but can't "back up" and has poor side movement. I will have a closer look tonight to see if I put something back poorly to cause this problem.
Before moving the server arm position I found that it worked fairly well in a small breeze if I gave it a blase of alltiude and immidiatly went in a diagonal direction. I seemed to have more sideways pitch than forward.

Cheers
Ed

Hey I like that flybar. It seems a little big though, how does it effect the flight?

It really makes the response better. But I flew with the rubber covers on the Stock fly bar only that was wild.
