flying my titan the otherday all was great in a nice hover about 10feet off the ground when the tail started twitching left and right only about 2cm each way so landed and give it a check out all seemed fine so went for antoher flight got back into the hove again about 10 foot when out of no where it just started spinning around mamaged to get it back down with not to much damage.

after having a look over it when i got home it looks like the tail roter servo has failed it tuns spins full right then hits the stops and then makes a buzzing noise and keeps trying to turn.

took the servo back to my model shop and they have swaped it for a new one.

has anyone else has a simler problem?

If you're flying a 50 size Titan then the DS821 servo is not recommended for use on this heli at all. I certainly wouldn't use it as a tail servo either as it's not intended for this application. Which gyro are you rumming as a proper tail servo will cost more but will certainly make your flying easier and last longer.

hi using futaba 401 gyro i am only at the hovering stage so was thinking it would do for now.

what do you think?

We are thinking that they arent rated for 50 size helis. You saw what happens when you disregard that warning.

Its cheaper to replace the servos than repair a major crash.

On the cyclic and collective 9252's

On the tail rotor 9254

I wouldn't worry about the 821's on the cyclic. Especially since your hovering. I've set up raptors using those and the old JR 811's and they all work fine. I wouldn't 3D with them, but hovering and forward flight should be fine. I've even seen 3003's 3004's and a ton of 537's (all standard servos). Definately get the 9254 on the tail though.

First we aren't talking 811's, they wore out but they didnt fail like the 821s are.

Second, JR says they arent rated for 50 size nitros, so telling someone to go ahead and use them against the mfg's guidelines, and contrary to the volume of threads about them failing, IMO is poor advice.
