Hey all,

My current set up is a 7" monitor running 12V power from a field battery. I want to mount my monitor to my Tx tray...how do I set up the power source for the monitor? i.e. I dont want a field battery hanging off the bottom of my tx tray.

ideas?

Have you ever tried to watch a monitor and fly at the same time? It's extraordinarily difficult - and dangerous. You can get some video monitor goggles/sunglasses like the Eyetop Centra so your eye needs only to move a couple of degrees. Even then the change in near/far focus can be scary sometimes.

After a little shopping I found a new set for $175, but they've sold out. There are probably other sources out there.

If you wear prescription glasses like me there's another alternative that you wear like a headset. They're a lot more expensive - around $1000 - and I haven't been able to find a cheaper source for them yet.

Power the monitor with a 3S LiPo. I have the D/L Rx, LiPo and remote all velcroed to the back of the monitor. I also have a patch antenna which I will hang on a vertical pole over my shoulder in due course.

I have never reached that point, but I believe it is good for several hours at least

I'm using the Air thunder 3s lipos for my downlink and monitor so I dont have to worry about overdischarge and puffy cells. I measured the amp draw once, but it was really low. I also put my eagle tree on all my other equipment so i can use the smallest possible batteries on my wireless camera TX and pan/tilt control servos.
