Anyone have a pic of a fiberglass canopy cut-out they did to allow more air to the motor and bats on a Hurricane 550 ?
I just upgraded to the newer 1000 watt 1100 KV motor and it gets pretty hot after flying. Looking for ways to cool it down a little.
Thanks
Tom

I also upgraded to the new motor and mine is cooler then stock? I am running 14T pinion with stock gearing, and get about 4.5 minutes of some pretty hard flying, I can easily do 2 back to back flights. my motor is warm but you can hold it with your fingers when done with the second flight. I just have the recomended cutouts on the stock canopy.
My kit came with the new motor (850KV, bronze head) and 15T pinion. It gets very hot after 4.5min on mild 3D flying. No one can hold the motor for more than 2 secs.
My canopy has the recommended cut out, I may consider to cut away the 2 oval holes on top of the motor to become a single bigger hole. Hope it may helps.

yesterday i flew again and it was much warmer then it has been, last flightsit was only around 50 degrees and yesterday it was 82. my motor and Bats were much warmer as well. my motor after 2 flights was 150 degrees. the evo 2500 packs were 135 and the 2170s were too hot about 150. I flew it pretty hard with a lower throttle curve as well,100, 95 85.... I think it works better on the flater curve. next flights I will go back to a higher curve like i had before 100 95 90...., then I will try a flat 100 to see how it does with temps and flight times. my fight times were also down to 4 minutes with the lower throttle curve?
