pack wise- I was wondering if you have two 11.1's in series and one packs voltage is off from the others. will it change power significantly? Inotherwords, does one need to equally matched packs to get proper power in series?

The video of the 6s set up was pretty wicked! Part of me would rather have a 600e if I were gonna spend that much anyways! I just ordered my 450se v2 about an hour ago. I'll probably end up passing on the t500 and get a t600 or a Logo 6003d, by the time you outfit a t500 with the digital servos and 6s batteries your not far from a 600 machine and I'd venture to say a 600 machine will fly better. The Logo 600 3D is looking pretty sweet!

Does anyone know if this 500 will have a separate RX battery, or run off the main battery? For instance ... the Century Swift 550 is usually set up with a separate RX battery to power the electronics.

The Century Swift 550 is NOT a 500-class heli but a larger, 30-size heli. On 500-class helis most folk use a BEC running off the main flight battery as there is not really the room for a separate Rx battery.

I was going to rephrase my question ... I KNOW the Swift is a .30 size. Just wanted to know if the smaller, 500-size helis also use a RX battery. Thanks for the answer though

Having 2 600s, I still want the 500. The 600 is still too big to keep in the car and fly in smaller locations. The 600 needs a lot of room. both in transport and flying field.
The 450 is a nice compact heli, but it hates wind and is a little too twitchy.
I think the 500 size helis are a nice compromise
I was thinking about cutting down a 600 to accept 500mm blades, but this looks easier and cheaper :YeaBaby:
and yes, i know the 500 doesn't use 500mm blades ;)
Also, I think it does look a little different because the canopy nose is a little short, and the LG makes it look more short being spread so far apart. The little rubber skid stoppers are going to fall off every flight!

bullaculla, I definitly see what your saying. I went ahead a bought the 450 yesterday to fly in my backyard and will fly the bigger birds at the fields. Transportation for me is not a problem and I have a field about 10min from my house. I originally was thinking about the t500 instead of the 450 but then decided to get the 450 for my backyard duties and go with another heli for my mid-size bird. I but the 450 is still way less money to operate and from what I've seen the 450se v2 is a hell of a little bird! Perfect for my backyard! Who knows? I may end up chosing the T500 as my midsize heli!

I'll tell you guys. I have a Lepton and you'll still need a lot of room to fly the Align 500. It flies much bigger than you think. I fly mine in around the same area that I fly my 600. It's uncomfortable to think that it's a park flyer because it's much bigger. Plus those blades are a lot heavier and can cause a lot more damage to others that frequent parks. Just something to think about. FWIW, I've recently been flying my Lepton 6s 2100 (using 2 3s packs in series) and it is a great setup. Too bad the flight time is a lot smaller. But 6s has breathed new life into my Lepton, which was sorely underpowered for 3D until switching to 6s.

Yes I agree with the Lepton comment. It flys much larger than a 450 for sure and is a LOT faster. Some might argue the 450 isnt big enough to kill some if hit by it. That might be true for the most part but I gaurentee the 500 can! My Lepton head speed is 3K and I can tell you with 425mm CF blades you need to respect this size heli.

If I did the match correctly, the tip of the blade is traveling at over 300 mph.
425mm blades x 2 plus some rotor head dimension = ~ 900mm diameter
900mm x 3.14 x 3000rpm x 60 min x 1mm/1000cm x 1m/1000 km / 1.6 = 317.925mph
It's interesting to note that the rpm divided by 10 is approximately the tip speed in mph. Just so happens the math worked out that way for 425mm blades.

i guess the dimensional analysis im learning in physics is useful in helis.
good info.

I thought about an Eheli but the packs are way too much and one crash can do your battery in not my cup of tea NITRO ALL THE WAY! I would buy a Rex 90 in a heartbeat. At least I could get parts anywhere not like my f#$% Predator Max
