My stock esc puts out 6V DC. The DS-285 servos as well as the futaba s9257 servos that I have are rated at 4.8V DC. I'm not sure what the maximum rating is for the AR6100 receiver is.
My question is, do I need a regulator in line with the connection from the esc to the receiver? I'm a noob and still learning, obviously.

DS 285s are rated at 6V. From www.jrradios.com:
DS285 Digital Hi-Speed Sub-Micro Servo
Specs
Type: Digital Hi-Speed Sub-Micro
Torque: 17 oz/in @ 4.8V, 19 oz/in @ 6V
Speed: .18 sec/60 degrees @ 4.8V, .14 sec/60 degrees @ 6V
Dimensions (WxLxH): 0.45"x0.87"x0.85"
Spektrum Rxes can run on 2S lipo without any regulator. Most gyors can easily handle 6 volts. Only thing you need the step down for is the S9257. Or sell it and get a JR DS3400G and it is happy at 6V.

I have a Thunder Power 2100mah 11.1v lipo. I thought the Rx got it's power from the ESC? Will my battery work for the stock Align ESC?
Also, where can I find a tutorial on lipo break-in? -Thanks for the help

Yes, the electronics can be powered from that ESC and battery.
Look in the battery section. But basically fly 3 - 5 cycles at a hover only and for about 50% of pack capacity. For a Trex, about 4 - 5 minutes per flight, then charge and do again.
