It is normal for the gap to lessen after running the motor. You should be fine at .010.

thanks david, I feel a little bit better about it now. Is it possible that the frame might flex onto point of contact and cause a lockout at this measurement?

With a helicopter anything is possible.Since the clutch driver and fan hub are turning at the same rpm. A touch between them should not be enough to lock out PCM. Now if the dampeners are bad, there is banging happening between two surfaces. That is different.

im thinking about ordering YS adapter plate 126-33 and raise the gap up a bit. But that would really bring it up to .015, almost not worth placing the order. Its either that or I have to reduce that engine shim, and I really dont feel like dial indicating that fan again.

Even though, I think your right on that gap size, I figure it probly got reduced during the first flight to .010, and I got maby about 3 more flights in after that without issue. But who knows maby the wrong move at the right time will be the one.

I think im gonna take your suggestion david, and just fly it the way it is at .010.

thanks david,

Got it squared away. K&S brass shims did the trick underneath the a supports. .016 shim brought it up to a gap of .026.

Thanks

That will work. Now you will be replacing the dampeners in the fan hub. The more gap the quicker they wear out.
Like I said, .010 is fine, mine is only .015 and has given no problems.
