View Full Version : Did I kill my Align LiPo?

Well having pretty much completed my 450se v2 I was soldering a deans connector onto the align pack, and I somehow touched the wires together (DOH!) and there was a crack and spark.

It was very brief but now I can't charge the pack, my graupner charger wont recognise it and the end where the wires go in the pack is squidgy.

Will this dumb mistake mean the pack is only good for the trash?

I have now ordered a 2500mah Flight Power Evo Lite

Those Align packs are good enough for the trash even with no mistakes. It would've puffed on you pretty quickly so don't feel to bad. Now, just don't do that to your EVO and you'll be a happy camper.

Yeah - that sounds like the most/best use anyone has gotten from one of the Align lipos! You at least got a valuable lesson out of yours.

Funny, mine went puffy after about a minute or two of being used to spin up and couple hops, and a crash. But my charger doesn't recognize it, like yours. My BC6 says `connection break`...

I wish it wasn't Align, because I love the Trexes, but those lipos are just a joke. Actually, do a search, and they are many jokes.

Open the pack, and below the printed board you wll find the connection that burned out because of the shour circuit. Solder a bypass of a thich wire, and the battery will get back to life.

Thanks Avi Y, it worked! It will no doubt soon give up like most people's, but for now I have two batteries

Nice! Two is better than one. Some of my favoritest things come only in pairs!

Yeah that's a really informative tip - but I don't thing that crappy align battery is worth someone with *MY* electrical skills trying, else BOOM. Hell, lipos scare me. I said it.

That EVO light is not the correct battery IMHO to get. You need the weight of the regular Flight Power to counteract an already heavy tail. You also need 25C for the V2 430 XL motor and battery to work well with each other IMHO.

The store sent me the wrong pack, an evo25. Its the same price and I was a bit narked, didn't want to have the return hastle and wait for the righ one before my first flight so I just accepted it. Now I realise this is the pack I should have got to start with!
