I think there is one close by. It is right out side of pilot mount. I know there is one up the road on rout 52. and I think there is one down toward the bottom of the mountain.

King is just north of Winston Salem.
Hotels should not be a problem, and if camping just use the web to search near zip 27021.
Hopefully, the club will be getting info together soon for everybody to finalize plans.

Pilot Mtn. is the only place I found to set up camp, it is a state park but generators are aloud she said. Will you have a novice section set up at this fly in ?? Thanx all Alan

I am wonder if Jody will have my canopy ready by then, looking forward to this one. I remember seeing a young couple brought their tent, water and all the necessary camping supply and they stayed there at night, no electricity....for the die hard only...or when you in love you know ....i remember Wayne Mann and Robin,, also was there. Hope to see them again

Gene, Chris, Would definitely like to figure out exactly what's going down for the FF this year. Having it early may not be a bad idea, especially considering the current restrictions Gene is talking about, and the possibility of the cold weather in Sept./October.

This is Mickey from the RAMS club in King NC.
Thanks Henry for posting the thread!! I have had TONS of trouble getting back on here. Seems I joined awhile back and forgot what my password was and which screen name to use. Sooo anyways I managed to figure it out last week..

Henry and guys, I'm NOT SURE we can do the APRIL 9th fun fly after all. ROD STAUFFER who usually CD's the event for the past 10 years will NOT be in town that week. We have no one who can CD it now and there are several other factors involved. KING RC won't sponsor us and get us FACTORY deals or factory sponsors unless its a sanctioned event. :bomb:

This means a crappy day with NO PRIZES from JR or FUTABA or any other Company that KING RC usually gives us.

SOOo That means we need to schedule it for later on in the year. Right now the weather had also been crappy here at the field every weekend too.

If its not too much trouble guys, lets look more toward summer than this APRIL 9th. You guys keep coming up with new possible dates for us and I promise it will be worth your drive to KING NC !!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry this is such short notice but I've been workin like a dog these past few weeks and ROD really knows more about CDing the event than I do. I originally told the club that "I"" would be glad to handle it but I'm NOT a CD. I figured Henry C would give me a hand with the contests and some of the other events to do, BUT, King RC informed me that they couldn't sponsor a UN-sanctioned event, and we HAD to have someone with a AMA CD or something... SO the CLUB wants to put it off until later on when we can have ROD do it and collect MORE great Prizes for you guys to win !!!!!!!!

So give ME more dates !!! THINK GUYS !! THrow in more possible dates for me to give the club to ponder. WE WANT YOU GUYS THERE, and not somewhere else on the same date !!!!!!!

Last year we had our fly -in the same day as the CHATTANOOGA fly in and we had a POOR turn out and maybe 10 pilots showed up.. :arggg:

So keep throwing dates up here and we'll do it RIGHT !!!!!

We have a generator onsite, and you can CAMP at the field. Bring a TENT or your camper. WE DO NOT have hook ups, but hey, we have a porta potty onsite... and you can run a drop cord to the generator if you wish.......

I don't think that the idea here is to win crap or take stuff home...
Everyone here wants to fly and meet.
The idea of needing "contests" I think is null too.
Anybody else want to chime in?
Who just wants to show up and have fun in NC???
If you and the club guys say no, then that's final.
However, if there's any way to get by without a CD and just have some club menbers to help run the impound and run the concessions, then I think everybody here would be OK with it.
I was excited to read- straight from the March minutes- "The 6th annual Dragon Fly Heli event was scheduled for Saturday April 9th. The following members volunteered; Chico, Leo, Mickey, Gary T., Nathan. The field will be closed from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm that day."
You guys need to make the final call and we'll live with it. Thanks for hearing me out!

This is a bummer, I had 4 other guys from my field comming along and a friend from 2 hours away changed things around to make it now I have to call him and give the bad news. Real sorry it won't work, as said before I go to these tings to watch and meet other pilots I don't care about prizes for a fun fly, but who knows maybe I can make it another time but not sure about my friends. alan

Agree! but...since it might not happen...I think everyone that was going to come with me are now going to have our own little event at the BaltimoreBoyz field on the 9th...

we will have Beast, Chuckie, Wattybotts, white chocolate and ripper as the main attractions...
