I'm looking for a good charger for quick charging/balancing of my FP 2170 packs.
I am considering the cellpro4s, but after looking at the wattage it puts out, I can see it wont truly charge at 3C for a 2170 pack. the price and other features are right though, I was going to get 2 for under $200.
Anyone know of a charger that can balance/charge these packs fast? Something reasonably priced? If it can charge 2 packs a the same time, then I'm willing to pay double, since I'll only need 1 charger.
I pretty much want all the features of the cellpro4s, but it I can find something that will do all that and charge faster... thats exactly what I want.

Sounds like you want to charge the packs at 3C??
Lipos should be charged at 1C. Even though the pamphlet that comes with the 2170 says you can charge at 2C, the fine print advises to charge at 1C for maximum life of the pack.
If you charge at 3C you are asking for trouble. I've seen 2 fires caused by someone trying to charge a Lipo faster than recommended.

ok then say 2c, the cellpro4 will only charge at ~1.4C for these batteries.

The latest Cellpro charges at up to 4 amps . 2C for your packs is 4.34 amps. Sounds like a good compromise to me. I have a 3amp version, about to buy a second one (4 amp).

I never charge above 1C, I've read it will shorten the pac's life and with the cost
of good pack why risk it to save a few minutes charging time...

Not good for the cells charging beyond 2C. The e-Station BC-8 will do it, but you can buy 3 CellPro's. If you go into a TR600, then you're buying a new charger again.

to save a few minutes...more like a half hour.
Anyways I can barely afford the lipo I have so I charge at 1c but if I could afford to sacrafice some cycle life you had better believe they would be in a fire proof encloser charging as fast as they can without blowing up. :)

My experience with my Cellpro 4S is that even if you set it to 3C, it does not really charge at 3C (or at the max 4A, the lower of the two). I presume it does it for safety reasons by limiting the dv/dt of the battery (which is fine with me since safety is high on my list).

How long does it take at that setting?

Hey don't listen to anyone here. Go ahead and charge at 3C and see how long your battery or your house lasts. In fact just get a TP 1010/210 combo and hook that 2170 up and crank the thing up to 10A. 4C and you should be up and running (out of your burning house) in about 15mins.
All joking aside if you want to charge faster the best thing to do is to have multiple batteries and chargers.

well put fil, and unless you wanna be buying a new house, wait the extra half hour it takes to charge at 1C
