I need the advice of the hive mind. I have an opportunity to acquire a Blade CP (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=4814) Pro as a trade for another Heli. I have heard a LOT of bad things about the CP and CP Pro (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=3784) and I am wondering whether or not it is worthwhile to go that route? I am pretty good on my CX2 (http://www.rcuniverse.com/buynow/keywordclick.cfm?bid_id=4264), but have never before flown a CCPM machine. Should I agree to the trade?
I should also add that I am getting a Blade 400 as soon as they come out. The CP Pro would kind of be a third wheel, especially if it is as hard to control as I have heard.
All thoughts and opinions welcome.

I would recommend that you either wait for the B400, or get a Honeybee King 2. The Honeybee King 2 are excellent learning machines. I had a Blade CP and it drank my money dry. The King 2 actually revived my love for the rc heli world. Being new also, I found the CP to be very frustrating. The Honeybee is RTF for about $150-160. It is a far better machine than the Blade CP Pros and the king will save you tons of money. Please trust me on this one. If you get a Blade CP or CP Pro you will be kicking yourself in the butt down the road. Just passing the word... I hope I have saved you a headache.

Thanks for the feedback VengenceCP. Your name suggests to me that you have experience in these matters.

Yes, I do not have that much experience yet, but I have enough to let people know that the Blade CP is not worth the struggle. Glad to know you are considering my opinion. I am almost positive you will fall in love with the Honeybee King 2 just like the rest of us that have them. I did and its a crazy little ship with the added 3800 brushless upgrade. As soon as I get some more loot I am going to go nuts and pimp it out with Spektrum radio gear and the whole nine yards. Best of luck to you; which ever road you choose.

I've had some experiences with the cpp and I will tell you it will be money poorly spent. If you have enough money buy a T-Rex, if not wait for the B400, don't bother with the Honey Bee, get a bigger Heli, trust me, you won't be sorry

You have the exact same setup with your TREX that I am considering. I guess that's no big surprise, as it is a standard config and the V2 is the latest and greatest. I've never flown anything bigger than my CX2. However, I recently visited a buddy of mine in North Carolina and got to see something pretty close to yours fly up close and personal! I was definitely impressed.
The thing about me and the TREX is that I want to build mine from scratch. I also want to take my time during the assembly and not be rushed because I am so anxious to get it up in the air. There is also a lot I still don't understand about the programming required in the radio and stuff. Hopefully by then I will also be able to find and join a local RC club. Of course, I know that there is a wealth of information on these forums as well!

The T-Rex I feel would be a large jump from the CX2. I have tried the same approach for my father, and he wants my King 2 now. The reason for this is because he is not afraid to learn and smash up my Honeybee because it is not a $700 unit being slammed into the ground like his T-Rex is. My dad is new, and loves the honeybee. Then again it depends on your outlook. The T-Rex is a lot to setup for some, so maybe the Blade 400 (RTF) would be a better bet for a beginner. The T-Rex is an incredible ship, but I think its a lot for a newbie unless you a HELIFREAK like most around here. =D

If you learn to fly all orientations on a cx2 you will be fine on a T-Rex as long as you take it slow. The se v2's are kits, so you will have to build it from scratch, thats half the fun :YeaBaby:

if you take the time to do a GOOD setup on a trex learn to hover is going to be super easy..
last week i redid my entire head and got it setup perfectly. a few minutes into the test hover i lifted both my thumbs off both the sticks for about 9 seconds before i corrected for the drift, the heli only drifted maybe a foot in the entire 9 seconds.
i liked my pro but wished id have started off with the trex..
building them is fun but for me its buying the upgrades and installing.. you get to see how the heli changes and at times feel the difference if you can in what each upgrade has changed.
i might end up getting the b400 but theres a few other things in front of it. like a hurrican 550 and a good 3d plank with a big wing span..50 to 70 inches..

well I have a blade CPP with everything but the belt drive tail. I like it but I am going to get a B400 I want a bigger bird. I actually fly my CX2 more than I do my CPP because I have to wait so long for parts, not many places are APO friendly. And some places Flat will not send to Iraq. A buddy of mine waited 6 weeks for parts for his Trex450

I wouldnt recommend it, I went from a CX2 to a Cp Pro, and its been nothing but a money hole, I have spent over 250 dollars on replacement parts alone, its a joke, everybody has been saying the same thing get the honey bee king 2, or the blade 400.
Cp Pro=Bottomless money pitt:arggg:

Yikes! Maybe I will stay away from the CP / CP Pro....

well if you setup the the head on the pro good and get the freestyle belt drive tail mod, it can fell like a mini trex... mortificate knows about that and i think he flies his pro way more then this trex... i will leave him a message on msn to check this thread and add is somewhat needed 2 cents..

I still think the Rex or B400 is a better idea

lol yea, but the price difference is pretty extreme depending on what you buy and then what you get, it's all a trade off

Once again, I appreciate the discussion. :)
Based on feedback and my own research, I have decided that if I can sell my other CX2, I am going to look into a Honey Bee King 2 CCPM setup. I think that this machine will fit in well with my "planned" collection.

You'll be happy with i I think, but you may be hard pressed to find parts locally

Yeah, I know. I have pretty much resigned myself to that. But, if I have my CX2 flying, I can always wait for HB parts. :)

I went from a Blade CP to a Trex 450 and the Trex was not a major jump..In fact it was so much easier to fly over the CP I could hardly believe it. Another big thing about the trex is parts are available everywhere and cheap ! Now moving from the Trex to a Hurricane 550 was a BIG jump. Even though the 550 is easy to control, the size difference was major !

better idea then the honey bee king v2 or what ever..
thunder tiger e325 mini titan
barebones kit 169.99
it cant cost that much more then a honey bee, and i know it will for sure blow the honey bee out of the water iterms of performance, design, and all anything else..i can say that if some one offered to trade me their e325 for my trex, and it had a cnc tail and a cnc head...good one....after a day or 2 to think about it i would prolly do the trade.. the e325 is much easyer to work on then a trex and some say outfly the trex...i favor the e325 in terms of looks over the trex..
digger60, you are lucky. you get to see a h550 everyday and fly it when you want. all i can do is picture my gy611 on my h550...im doing the same thing i did for my trex. im buying all the NEEDED items. servos gyro yadda yadda... so tail servo and gyro is nolonger a problem for me..

I have heard of the Thunder Tiger Mini Titan, but this is the first time that someone has recommended it. You say that a barebones kit costs ~$170? Is that RTF? I'll do some digging on the net today and see what I come up with.

I went from a CX2 to a T-Rex and love it! Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but there is also the RCT-450 Diablo. Parts are inexpensive and it is very close to the T-Rex.

Barebones, think about it, it'll be like getting a Honey Bee Barebones, no electronics! It'll be MUCH better than the HBK2 by far, I was thinking about one but then realized it was hard to get parts, and it could just be me, but I don't like overslung flybars like on the Diablo and blade cp

barebones means its just the kit only, no servos, no motor, no esc... this heli tho is in a class above the honey bee. its going to cost littl less then a trex to get flying buy used when you can.
